So true! Any shows we find on NZ TV that we like, we usually end up torrenting the season from the US (in HD if it's easily available). Although it's amazing how little TV we watch now, compared to before Media Portal, as we just watch what we want to when we want to.

By the way I meant picture quality, but the quality of shows works in that sentence too

Thats what got me into MP.

I was getting so many shows from England that I got fed up connecting the laptop to the tv (or just watching it on the laptop) that I thought about hooking up a shuttle and using that.

Id used my desktop and a transmitter years ago in England to do the same thing but of course the quality was rubbish and at the time the bank balance didnt stretch to a dedicated machine.

So from humble beginnings I now have the htpc doing all our tv, movies, music, photos, epg, skype dualphone and a 32' Samsung lcd.

My wife still doent know how it all happened !

There was a bit about NZer's watching downloaded programes instead of TV about two weeks ago on Cambell Live. I should have recorded it and made a torrent

Apart from Wensday/Sat I hardly ever watch TV, the rest is torrent stuff. It's probily around 40/60% TV to torrent.

Not sure about quality difference (picture wise  ) between -T and -S, I suspect not much difference as the source is the same and being digital if you can receive the signal you will be getting the same data from either source. It's more to do with converage.

I think if it wasnt for the English football I could easily flag Sky and just watch what I acquire from elsewhere.
Ha ha - and you watched the game on Sunday!!

I'll miss some of the TV over here as it sounds like NZ's selection is slim. To be honest I tend to get a lot of series on DVD and watch them that way - a newbie when it comes to torrents (maybe I could PM one of you guys and you can give some pointers when I get back to NZ?? )

Looking forward to upgrading the TV as currently only have a peice of sh*t phillips 28" widescreen. Anyone out there had much to do with the new HD rear-project units as compared to LCD/Plasma? Look good value for size etc. I suppose the best thing is to have a look side by side in the shop....

It was on Close Up, and I watched it on the TVNZ website instead of on TV, funnily enough 8)

Here's a link to the video, shame they couldn't have found one of us to plug MP instead of XBMC!

Default DVBT

DVB-T has been working here in Auckland for quite a while on test, i have six channels and they come in very clear just the the FTA sat channels and this is to be expected as they are both digital. No EPG at this stage but with a cheap DVB-T PCI card you can be up and running with MP very quickly. I have had the Auckland DVB-T transponder (yes there is only one at this stage) added to MP and you can now choose NZ - Auckland in the dropdown and the channels are there ready to go.

Need a little help...

Had some Windows issues and ended up reformatting. Unfortunately I wasn't able to back up my MP install. Now it won't pick up Prime in autoscan - can someone tell me what channel it is broadcast on? I know the frequency is 783.250 from when zxcvbnm2 told me earlier.

Default Another kiwi here...

Hi all,

I too was wondering how many people from New Zealand are using MP. I'm in Auckland and have recently just been trying to set it up.

I finally figured out reven's xmltvnz to download the xml file and import it into MP, and that looks great so far, but I can't change channels...

Is anyone here successfully using a PVR150MCE's USB remote and IR blaster to control their Sky Digital box? I am having a hell of a time getting it to work. Plus I don't know how to get the rest of the buttons on the Hauppauge MCE-ish remote to work correctly with MP.

Any ideas would be massively appreciated!!

thanks!

http://www.lincrad.co.nz/transmitters.htm

I found this a really useful site, if you select your region and then hover over the transmitters it shows you station, frequency, channel etc. It says that Prime on 783.25 is channel 60. Hope this helps. m.

Gidday fellow Kiwis...

Has anyone brought together useful New Zealand localisation information into one document? Perhaps a localisation page on the MP wiki? I'm happy to help write one if others have the information? (I'm new to MP.)
