I thought the idea behind HDCP is that everything is encrypted; otherwise, you see either SD or nothing, depending on what the content owner decides.

I assume that when they turn HDCP on, the broadcast stream will be encrypted except for the SD bits, so by default we can see the SD, and the rest is ignored/skipped. To decrypt the rest you need the CAM that's (I assume) in the (DVB-T) STB...

I know HD is available now, but I'd guess that they just haven't turned on HDCP yet.

What I'm saying is that if MP doesn't implement HDCP, we won't be able to see HD content in HD.

If they've done it right.

(Just playing Devil's advocate - I don't know, and I really hope I'm wrong )
this would suck and i would cry!, with the amount of money i have spent on my system to get it working well with hd i will be extremely angry if this happens

does anyone know when/if this will happen???

Have you guys noticed that the EPG turns to crap again as of midnight tonight? I noticed it was out from the 16th after it came right right the other other day but I was hoping it would be all sorted by now...

Hi, I'm still in the same boat as a few of you with the random pixalations and odd freezing.

Just wondering if anyone has solved it or found anything that has helped. I don't want to try any newer SVN's as I am relitavely happy with my current setup so unless I know theres a fix wont up grade. I only get the odd pixelation on TV1 and 2 and then the odd freeze on TV 3 roughly ev 30mins. Generally I am channel surfing so it doesnt happen.

I am looking into my cabeling but I have a brand new house and areial so dont think its that.

Cheers

Yeah my guide is rubbish this morning. Do we have to revert to using some kind of xml feed rather than relying on the epg off the satellite? I can't work with this, it's just terrible.

Also MP seems to keep forgetting my series recording schedule - eg shortland street is scheduled to record every night but each day the recording seems to disappear and I have to reschedule it. Could this be to do with the dodgy epg data coming down? Tearing my hair out!

Is there any reason why you guys don't just set up an xml grabber like reven interactive has for us? I don't use any epg data grabbed from the DVB signal because of problems with its reliability. On the whole, the xmltvnz solution works very well for me.

The other day when the EPG was out my scheduled ("every week at this time") recordings worked, but obviously the programme name/description was wrong.

For the odd issue we get with it I would still much rather use the Freeview EPG feed - I used to have all sorts of problems using XMLTVNZ when the sites that the information was coming from changed and Reven had to make adjustments to the code. Plus I was always worried that Reven would call it quits and I'd be stuck without an EPG

Hopefully this latest issue will be sorted soon....

Shame, for me grabbing the epg off the bird is so simple and I like not having to rely on someone who will most likely receive a cease and desist at some point..

anyway, maybe time to go look at importing xml again then.
