Well i just did a full reformat with the OS being hosed and re done from scratch also. And after doing all the updates and installing a few bits and bobs for the TVServer i installed the new RC1 and haven't been looking back since.

I installed the appropriate windows updates, the dvb fix for psisdecd.dll, the SQL Database, CoreAVC, ffdshow, matroska splitter and VSfilter then MediaPortal single seat and it has been working for all the high def vids i have right out of the box, no config needed other than choosing the right playback codecs. No problems with the DVB-T, other than me being an idiot and breaking the TV card last night in a sleepy error trying to be sly about cable routing.

All in all, i'm very happy with the RC1 release. And with any luck i won't be having any crashes after an hour or two of watching like i used to have...

Hi Folks,
I've been reading this forum since last week as I am on the rocky road of building my htpc with HD freeview. The PC is brand new, based on Gigabyte AMD 780G board using HVR-4000 tv card, XP MCE installed with Mediaportal 0.2.3.0.
I've been through a few XP MCE re-installs and now it seems, that I have all the hardware issues finally sorted and I have all XP patches, MCE rollup 2, and hotfixes installed too. I am trying to make Freeview working on DVB-T.
The mediaportal can see the tv-card fine, but the problem is, that cannot find any tv channels during he scanning, only 2 radiochannels. I have downloaded earlier the NZ dvbt.xml from this forum, and it seems, that mediaportal finds the signal on the right frequencies during the scan, but cannot recognize any TV channels in it.
Would anyone have a clue what am I doing wrong? Any answers appreciated! Cheers!

Download the new RC1 version of Media Portal. Or use 0.2.3.0 and a recent SVN. A clean 0.2.3.0 install will not work in NZ, you will just receive the 2 radio channels as you have noticed.

With RC1 where do the NZ Logos go? There is no thumbs directory anymore.

Also is there a simple thing for minimizing full screen MP?
There does not seem to be a minimize icon top right and Ctrl+Esc does not allow for a switch either.

Other than that everything went sweet, install, setup, and configuring was more or less minimal.

Great work on this RC1 Refresh release.

Default VFD / LCD display

Can anyone recommend a good VFD or LCD display which works well with MP?

I use the Imon VFD (came with my HTPC case) with Frontview and I think it's good. When I used to run MCE it would list the song/singer etc when music was playing for example but I don't know if it can do that with MP - I haven't looked into it too much, I just have a banner - "Davids Kick @rse HTPC" (the kids love that ) + the time.
