Was the channel still "playing"? You need to connect to the graph while it is still running.
Yes it was. I minimised MP & ran Graphedit. Just a grey box.

I have other issues at present. Turns out my 4800+ CPU has been faulty from new. Hence the no video signal from standby resume etc. Only issue is: AMD's importer has none in the country & they won't be available for at least 2 weeks. GREAT. What B/sh*te.

I won't touch AMD again if that's there approach to looking after NZ consumers! It's no wonder they can't Intel either on the CPU ratings or the stock market.

Now I'm stuck with using my client machine's Sempron 3000+ CPU: it's a struggle for LiveTV. Will see if can return my mobo for a 775 model from the came company. Will cost more for both; but, it's only money. What is the Intel equivalent????

Will an E4500 Intel CPU be good for a DVB-T freeview HTPC running dual DVB-T & twin, separate analogue 160MCE tuners? Don't say an 8400, I don't want to spend $300+ I want something in the 4800+'s price range: $120; or just above.

There's your problem, MP stops playing when you minimize it. instead, set MP not to start in full screen and not to be always on top then connect to the graph. This will tell you what codecs are being used; this is something that you really need to know .

And if you have hardware decoding working properly with your 8500GT then the sempron should be fine

rather than trading everything in just spend an extra $20 on the next best AMD cpu, they're more than ample for mediaportal.

Nice theory: the only issue is next best CPU they have in stock is $100 more & nothing below, either.

Cheers. I will try that soon as I'm reghosting back to my newest image now.

How to check if hardware decoding is operating properly? The boxes are checked for hardware decoding inside MP config. & confirmed inside Zoomplayer config.

I've not got a dvb-t rig (yet) but so I'm not sure, it's a setting in the power DVD codec somewhere? anyone? First though make sure the MP is actually using the PowerDVD codec

Forgot the latest image had an issue with MYSQL & not able to connect to database. Have to get my 8.30 TV fix, so it won't happen tonight. I DO really appreciate you're efforts on my part, mcraenz.

Whooa, back up the horse. I'm not using PowerDVD. I have setup temporarily the Twinham solution which worked on my previous setup but has not functioned on this new config. I am planning on purchasing the CoreAVC H.264 codec. I cannot download their trial version to test it so am waiting on their response. The delays have been exacerbated by my hardware issues.

I refuse to be ripped off with PowerDVD's expectancy of people to buy their entire package when all I want is the H.264 codec. If they won't realise that, they don't deserve my money. And I have NO sympathy for their products being hacked, but I won't be one.

Um I don't think CoreAVC supports hardware acceleration. If you want to have painless Freeview|Hd then you really need to get hardware acceleration working, regardless of how powerful your CPU is or how good your software codec is.

Decoding 720p .mkv TV shows off the net and decoding high bitrate HD TV are 2 different things; I can't stress enough you really don't want to be doing this stuff with software!

I think the cyberlink codec really is the best option.

when i use coreavc i it crashes when i change channels!, just use ffdshow thing, that works fine for me even when hardware decoding

when im using hardware decoding the picture does not look as good, not very smooth, but when i use cpu it looks great, but the frame rate is really low, and media portal crashes after 15mins
