Yea I get that but I just couldn't think what you'd want to keep long term off TV, to make the long compression process worth while. I guess music videos but it seems like a tedious process. There used to be a compress option in MediaPortal but did they take it out?
The odd programme: ie. sci-fi, like the Sarah Conner Chronicles (if I like the series). Plus I want to perfect the procedure when something does come along. Also, I just let it transcode overnight.

BTW -I can't get the HDTVtoMPEG convertor to work: I have been trying to manually enter the PIDS but to no success. "She's a hard road finding the perfect convertor, mate."

The other thing I record, albiet off Sky is Documentaries which I think might be useful for my daughter in the next 3-4 years of High School. Mainly some of the historical ones but I have about 80 recorded so far, most of which she may never use but there in case she does. VHS, then SVHS, then Digital/CD/DVD, now HD.

With future Freeview and more channels coming over the years recording that type of stuff in HD might be better if/when possible. I assume there is or will be some software that can read the .ts files as HD and burn them to BluRay or am I looking too far ahead.

Hi All

Is anyone else using a Popcorn Hour to view MP created .TS files? Mine arrived last week and I am generally quite impressed with this little device. In addition to being a useful NAS it plays the AVI and MPG files I have on the media server perfectly. However, I can only get the Video from Media Portal .TS file and no audio. Has anyone been successful in playing TS files through their Popcorn Hour?

PS: I found this link for a satellite image for the Weather section of MP. Does anyone have a better that they use: http://image.weather.com/images/sat/...at_720x486.jpg . They also have a moving image link that plays about four images (al la GBPVR) but I cannot get the moving images to play using MP. The link for the moving images is: http://image.weather.com/looper/arch...?1210465321383

Cheers Mike

Any tips on making TV1 display in MP RC1?

TV2,3 and C4 display fine, but not TV1

I have several variations of it in png format TV1, TV ONE, TVONE, TVNZ1 but still it is a no show.

It used to show up in earlier versions of MP when named TV One

It looks like a cool toy Mike. Does it support AAC?
Who in NZ sells them?

Check the name in Tv Server, i think the dvb-t version may have a space at the end of it that you can't notice when looking at it, but when you go to edit you see the cursor one space away at the end. Also delete the cache when you make changes to make them take effect.

Datagrafx: I recorded a DVB-T program just a short while ago from TV One and whilst I get good video, I cannot get any audio from a TS file regardless if its DVB-T or DVB-S - at least using the Left/Right Audio (i.e. not SPDIF). So I am not sure if the problem is related to AAC or just the way in which MP packages a TS file. The MPG files from the Analog tuner playback just fine. It certainly looks like it does not have any LATAM capability just yet.

You can purchase them from the PopcornHour website, I don't think there is a NZ reseller, however there are now being shipped from China so the delivery is quite fast - perhaps about a week for shipping and delivered by courier straight to your door.

Cheers Mike

I don't think the PopcornHour will support the LATM AAC audio that NZ DVB-T uses. Maybe a firmware update in future.

I think a firmware update is being planned Mcraenz. Interestingly I was able to get audio from some .TS files today but not all. For instance - I could get audio from TV3 .TS recordings and some TV2 recordings - but I cannot get audio from TV One recordings! It did not seem to matter if the audio was MPEG1 or MPEG2 - there's no consistency. Some files play with audio and some don't.

Still some way to go on the software for this device - me thinks.

PS: I have just tried running a TV One .TS recording through VideoRedo's Quick Fix option and I now have audio playing. So go figure? Not sure quite what that means!

Cheers Mike

I think sometime there is an AC3 audio track as well, I'm sure the PopcornHour will support AC3. And yeah they are a nice bit of kit. I'm sure it won't be long before there is a fw updae
