Country: | I see the Hauppauge HVR 1300 is supported for analogue and digital in MediaPortal, has anybody used one of these that can confirm it. It uses a hardware encoder for analogue. I was interested as a supported alternative to the HVR 2200 except it doesnt have a dual tuner. Ideally the HVR 2200 will be supported for analogue soon. |

Country: | no 1300 is definitaly hw encoder but it's an older model. If you've got PCI-e then I'd say better to hold out for HVR-2200 support, I'm sure the 1300 and 2200 must be about the same price?

Country: | Ahhhh 1300 is PCI so I hadn't looked at it..... Only have a free PCI-E slot..... What would be the benefit of the 2200 over the 1700? Is it a dual DVB-T tuner in that MP would see 2 DVB-Tuners and 1 Analogue tuner? |

Country: | Has anyone been able to transcode HDTV at all? Ive installed the MP Transcoding plugin which works for old SD content, but not HD content. I suspect its to do with the latm audio (not being an expert on these things). The plugin uses ffmpeg or mencoder. VLC is another app that struggles with our HD content, maybe the same reason?? Any ideas anyone? Thanks |

Country: | Hi, I have a few questions of my own (doesn't everyone) but a couple of comments on the last few pages of posts - I run Windows XP Pro with latest patches, FFDShow codec pack and MPRC1 with DVB-S --> the ffdshow codec pack has a H.264 decoder in it and while I am not using it for decoding DVB-T is works very well on the H264 encoded DVD-Rips that I have format shifted to the HDD (kids films and stuff - must faster to pick of menu than find, load etc). If it can decode that smoothly then perhaps it will also be fine for decoding DVB-T from freeview. And it is FREE, so the price is right. Viewing of .ts files - I can view these fine with media player (once you associate them) but haven't ever tried to convert them to another format for use on portable devices etc. If the ts files are essentially just mpeg2 files then converting with something like handbrake may be a good option. This does raise another question - why record in ts form at all (perhaps needed if running multiple clients) but on my single instance of MP I haven't yet found any advantages....are there any? So, now some questions of my own....I've been running MP for about 3 weeks now and overall am very happy with it - a few niggly problem though that I can't seem to be able to solve that hopefully the rest of you Kiwis can help with..... Analog TV - I have an HVR-3000 which works really well for DVB-S reception (I have a DiSEqC switch with two LNBs) and it also receives DVB-T (though I have disabled that tuner for now). But even though the card is supposed to be able to receive analog TV (in my case I want Prime) I can't use MP to find any channels. Am I missing something? Does it work for anyone? Is it supposed to? Doesn't matter whether I tune telling it the conneciton is cable or antenna, nothing make a difference - it finds NOTHING. I briefly had GBPCR installed and that at least found some channels... DVB Radio - Has anyone had a go at making this work? The radio EPG works OK (listings for National Radio and Concert FM get downloaded) but the moment I try to listen to the radio nothing happens, OR the MP locks up for long periods at a time - often to the point of requiring the machine to be rebooted - all very weird....is that normal? TV Recording Schedule - I record the Simpsons for the kids from Mon-Fri - as I don't much care about this schedule the recording has a very low (or no) pre/post-record time. When it record most of the Simpsons episodes are SILENT - perfect picture, no sound....this is problem number 1. All the other recordings are fine - so I think it could be the pre/post settings at fault as this is the only difference between the Simpsons recordings (all silent) and every other recording (all fine). Is that normal? So anyway, I think "No worries, I'll change the schedule", but I couldn't find an editable list of pending/programmed recordings. In the end I selected another simpsons episode, told it not to record, and then re-set it to record with the settings I wanted. Dumb. Where can I find a list of all the set recordings so that I can change the schedule (episode retention, pre/post record etc)? OK.....I'll stop....more questions later but for now that will get me going.... Thanks in advance... |

Country: | i have spent quite a few nights this week investigating transcoding the HD .ts files. No luck yet but it definitely looks like handbrake is going to be able to handle this once the bug is fixed in faad2. Hopefully not long now! I actually have the same issue about not being able to use the analogue on my hvr3000 to pick up prime. kinda forgot about it. |
