If the HVR3000 is like the HVR4000 then Media Portal will not make use of the Analog tuner due to the lack of hardware encoding on the card and a lack of software encoding in Media Portal. The cheapest solution if Prime is important to you is perhaps a PVR150 card (or PVR500 for dual analog tuners).

Its a real pity that there isn't a software encoder that Media Portal can access like the Cyberlink software uses - but that's the way it is. Of course, the biggest pity of all is that Sky was allowed to buy Prime!!!

Cheers Mike

I thought I'd heard that analog software support had come quite a long way in TVServer? Not that I've ever used it. When was the last time you tried your HVR-3000?

Anyone had any luck with demuxing/encoding dvb-t to mkv/avi etc yet? im waiting to hear back from a Freeview tech who has experience doing it - hopefully can point us in the right direction.
I've installed the version 8 trial but MP isn't giving me an option for a H.264 decoder in the TV setup section. Do you have to do something additional to configure/enable it?

I'm just starting to try and get DVB-T up on my HVR4000. I'm currently using DVB-S for everything which works well. I can get all of the DVB-T channels fine with 100% signal quality but the signal strength is nil. It doesn't even register on the graph. (I'm viewing this on the manual control section of TV server configuration by selecting a DVB-T channel and starting Timeshift)

My question to other HVR4000 users is, does the signal strength meter work correctly for DVB-T in TV Server or is it just that I really have virtually no signal? (Prime is pretty weak where we are)

Thanks

The last time I scanned DVB-T using my HVR4000 I did get signal strength indications.

I actually have the same issue about not being able to use the analogue on my hvr3000 to pick up prime. kinda forgot about it.
Here is a quote from another NZ forum & its source link.

Quote:
A HandBrake developer has some code in development that will take a NZ Freeview MPEG-TS and transcode it to an MP4, MKV, or AVI. It will de-interlace if required and resize/crop if appropriate.

The developer is working with Fossie's Freeview samples. At present there is a bug in the SVN version of FAAD for the AAC decoding which is preventing it working 100%.

I'll let the forum know when it is working and available to the public.

HandBrake works on Mac, Windows, Linux and Solaris.

The nice thing about using HandBrake for the transcoding is that it is fast compared to other encoders, and that it allows fine control over the h.264 options being used so that you can taylor the file the capabilities of your output device

I think from memory, I had to manually register the cl264dec.ax codec in the 'video filter' folder inside the PDVD8 folder. Don't ask me why, I thought it was odd.

Is there any way in MP to see what the tranmission resolution is for DVB-T? (e.g. 720p, 1080i, etc.) The "Official Freeview" boxes bring this info up on the screen for 5 seconds when you tune to a channel.

Hi,

Last tried analog reception on the weekend. No joy - get no signal strength indicators and it still says "Tuner Locked: No" - ergo, same result as always, no channels picked up.... ;-(

I thought since it allow analogue scan that it would work....but I guess not....the question now is do I care enough to buy another card or should I just wait and see?

B.

Can you add the channels separately instead of doing an auto scan? I didn't bother auto scanning and just added each channel individually and it worked fine for me.
