3.Also what do you guys use for making MP wake up from s3 twhen recording is programmed and going back into sleep after? apparently it can be done with some plugin...this is the only point so far that M$ MC did OOTB that MP didnt.

http://www.pvr-scheduler.de/index.php

works well for me, it is able to wake the pc up and update the epg as well which may help with question 1

The remote can control mutiple devices so I have a MP device a TV device and a sky device. Setup is done on a web page using a USB cable - it's fiddly to get it all working but worth the effort, again, happy to share my setup!!
thanks vbgeezer I may take you up on that. A couple more questions though, so you've purchased a Logitec 680 AND a USBUIRT and have them changing channels on your Sky Digital box. What is a Pace decoder? Mine is motorola - is that the same thing I don't recall seeing the word pace on the modek sticker on the bottom of it?

Do the Logitec drivers automatically work (assuming I've got your settings) or are there other apps helping like HIP? If so what are they and does that mean in theory my Hauppauge MCE remote and blaster can work? (at this point I am willing to wait and get something off ebay out of the box)

Do all its buttons work? i.e. MyTV, MyPics, FFwd, Rew, Rec, Stop etc?

thanks! I'll PM you once I've located a similar remote and USBUIRT

DAMN - just checked on ebay thats a US$160 remote? Considering I already have a Dell Media Center remote and this Hauppauge MCE one, that seems like a ton to pay for a remote?? I was thinking like $50 - is it at least totally backlit?

vbgeezer,

I have a few questions about your experiences in using Sky digtal and Mediaportal in New Zealand.

I use a RF mouse/keyboard combo (http://www.btc.com.tw/english/2-7-21...rd.htm#9019urf) to control Mediaportal. This works very well. I also have a Hauppauge PVR-150 that has s-video and composite in.

I'm trying to get my head around the whole Sky/Mediaportal interface. Is this how it works?:

1. Set Capture Card video/audio mapping of the TV card to the relevant inputs on the TV card, i.e. S-video-in and audio-in.
2. Map the individual TV Channels to the numbered channels on the Sky box using Type "Received by external settop box" and defining the inputs used in 1.
3. Configure the MPExTuneCmd plugin to execute the USBUIRT controller executable.
3. Configure the USBUIRT controller software to send the correct channel change signals to the Sky box.

At this stage I have neither a USBUIRT nor USBUIRT controller software.

My questions:
1. Do you know if all Sky Digital boxes are the same in terms of IR signalling (do they use a standard non-configurable remote) and which Sky box do you have and which remote came with it?
2. What restrictions have you found in using this interface and configuration?
3. Which USBUIRT do you use?
4. What USBUIRT software do you use?
4. Am I completely off base with my assumptions?

I would certainly like to see whatever configuration files you can make available, particularly the codes that you send via the MPExTuneCmd plugin to the USBUIRT controller software.

Cheers

Hiya TranceMan! Shall only get better with time 8)

To you Sky people, it might be cool if you could get your collective heads together and get some kind of working guide together for the Wiki like Bigbadsi has tried to do. Obviously it's a big point for a lot of Kiwis

Hi all

Just started using the MediaPortal product, still trying to find my feet, but thanks for all the advise in the forums. Been great to watch it all come together slowly.

Cheers

Default Yet another Kiwi with MP, Sky and a heart full of hope...!

Hi,
Though I would weigh in with yeat another largely pointless message to tell everybody I am a Kiwi and have just started with MP... ;-)

Anyway, I have a Hauppauge PVR-150-MCE card, a MCE remote (version 2) and blasters, and a NZ Sky Digital decoder I want to control with MP.

From surfing the forums, basic plan seems to be to configure the channels as external and use MyBlaster, but from some of the posts, seems it can be a bit hit-and-miss. So, just wondering if any intrepid Kiwi who has managed to get this to work would mind posting the consolidated list of steps and/or config required please? If they are already posted somewhere then please just send me the link and call me a n00b...

Thanks heaps
Cheers

Welcome to the fray! But I am in Akl and have the same card as you and have been messing with MP for sometime now trying to get it to control the Sky box. Unfortunately I don't have any constructive advice as of yet. At this stage I can't even get the PVR150MCE remote to work completely (even with using HIP with it) I can barely get the arrow keys and OK button on it to work. And I certainly can't get the blaster to control the Sky box - I've tried it with MP and also GBPVR.

But at this stage MP still seems to work the best out of SageTV, BeyondTV, GBPVR, and Got All Media. Though it would be perfect if we could figure out these problems and if it had hardware support for the PVR150 like the other apps. I'll post here if I get any joy out of it.

But at this stage my wireless mouse works from the couch so its working better than the remote... :?

Does anyone know of a step-by-step guide to getting an MCE remote to change channels on a Sky Digital box with Media Portal?

If so, let me know about it so I can (a) do it; and (b) add it to the localisation page on the wiki:

http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/Use...=%28zealand%29

Thanks in advance...
