Thanks guys, I really want to make this work, is it worth trying another card as I havnt had any problems getting any other channels just TV2, am going to try a clean install as am experimenting on my game pc a the moment but am ordering new parts for the HTPC as we speak.

thanks Mutly for the lincrad.co.nz site needed for CTV and other channels although cannot get PRIME now just sound with fuzzy picture ?

Gidday Bullfrog. As the Winfast card is not suppoted in anything but a very generic way by Media Portal, I would invest in a new card so you can make use of all the great functionality like timeshift etc. Purely for budget reasons i got an ATI 550 Pro - read about a million reviews about various low end cards, and the ATI always seemed to be top of the heap. Is working very well for me now.

However, if you can afford to fork out a bit more cash I would go for something like the Hauppauge WinTV PVR 500MCE. The advantage of the Hauppauge cards is extremely good support for features and functionality. I would definately get one next time.

What sort of case are you getting for your HTPC? Had a look at the new Silverstone ones?

Hi Frater. Np re: lincrad site. Was actually posted earlier in this forum... As far as Prime goes, I used the autotune to set up my FTA channels in ChCh. Prime came through clear and strong. If I remember I will check the channel number for it when I get home and post it up so you can see if yours is the same.

Hey Mutly I have gooten a Silverstone SST-LC02 full size ATX case, just arrived yesterday looks good so far am planning on putting the components in over the holidays, probably get a new card early in the new year, thanks for the feed back!. Also Managed to get TV2 going, ended up uninstalling all the drivers for capture etc, cleaning the registry and then reloading, worked good as first time, I have no idea why but am happy it worked

Hello all, I am just starting to make up HTPC's for mates and getting my head around the tech and software. Having a mother of a time with the avermedia M150 in MP, works fine when just an FM antenna plugged in but when I hook up the TV antenna MP starts the radio default station automatically on launch then 30 seconds later starts TV1 recording in timeshift, can stop the bloody thing. Weird.
Anywho, my friends and I are home theatre fans and as I am a web developer with a hosting server running in the states we set up a NZ home theatre club site and I am planning a login based setup where users can login and search other members gear and DVD's to arrange trades, group import buying, sample gears before buying - that kind of thing. Any of you who are interested in contributing in any way, be it updating the site FAQ's or holding gear demos, or even the site programming give me a holla

Im a NZ media portal user and ive just setup a system but iam having major pains with TV, it wont autotune but i know the computer can get channels and tune because the app that came with the tuner card works.

i setup channels manually and get just sound and a blank screen,

The card is a 'TV Excel PV-BT878P+'

i have tried latest MP and RC1,

Anyone got advice?

I had some problems with my card, after uninstalling the drviers for the card and using the latest version it went away I did this after Media Portal was installed, is it a software card as not alot of software cards are supported?

Hi Bullfrog, im not too sure if it is a software card or not, mediaportal gives me the option of a S/W or H/W card when i add the tuner card to the options, and as for the drivers im so very lost i cant find the makers website and the only driver i found was on a site where i have to sign up to download the driver, maybe i shall try that site.
