I thougt about this for quite some time now but I can´t find a point to get started.

1st off I found a cheap Tablet Pc on ebay for 48€ inc. shipping the specs are:

I wonder if it could be used with a very small win95 or win CE and paired up with the promixis netremote to have the ultimate remote.

- plan recordings

MyMusic
- browse throug music just like in my music (not so graphicaly advanced oc course)
- now Playing screen with coverart (also just like mymusic)

My Weather
- just like weather

My TvSeries
- just like My TvSeries (Fanart would be difficult)

My Films/My Videos/MovingPictures
- same here

My Wikipedia
- wow browsing wikipedia on that tablet (Simplified just like the plugin)

My Pictures
- Might be difficult because the pictures would need to be downsized


Going trough the thoughts I figured what I´m asking for is a frontend for mediaportal frontend.
Netremote is very powerfull and might achieve that but going the plugin way might be better to be independent from third party software.

Allso a simple webremote might be good but still there would be the need for an plugin to downsize the Thumbs/Fanarts/Pictures etc. to be streameble (will take some load and space on the machine)

I think a simple webremote would be be the best start and already available code could be used for the recortding/epg part and there is the xPL protocol.
Avoiding graphix like the plaque would be vital as the machine is really slow.
later features like coverart etc. could be added.
Allso a plugin that creates the webpages and have them stored locally might work.

Or creating a whole new Application mabe in C or simmilar but this would be like creating Mediaportal again and would be platform depending.

I have some experiences in programming but not enough to pull this one of.
A good point to start would be to look how mediaportal functions can be called from outside and where to pick up the menu structure.
If I got the money to spare I will by that tablet along with a wireless card to do some testing with the netremote and so on.
