Default Deinterlacing

I need a little explanation of the deinterlacing options.

Here are my questions:
1) What is the difference between bob, weave, and best in the TV settings?
2) What is the progessive setting do on the Intervideo WINDVD7 filter?
3) Which deinterlacing setting is used by MP: the option in the Television config or the decoder filter config or both?

I currently have mine set to BEST in Tele and under Intervideo WINDVD7 filter I have it set to auto. I had to do my config this way otherwise my audio would sudder every minute or so.

My audio would suffer if I didn't set the Tele Deinterlacing.

Interesting though. I too get an occasional stutter in my audio when watching video so this might have something to do with it.

For deinterlacing videos and things I captured I really like TomsMoComp.
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/trbarry/downloads.htm

It's a deinterlacer that uses motion compensation and adaptive processing. It's fast and quality is great. It's open source and it's a plugin for avisynth. I use it in conjuction with virtualdub. Maybe it could be ported for the use in MediaPortal?
