Default Films freezing

My MP install is fine, no TV I a server that streams films accross the network. Now a normal def film is fine, but looks craap on my TV have a HD TV I want to use it.

So I have got some films 720p x.264, they play, I have install all the stuff needed, but every so often the film freezes for split seconds, if I pause the film then play its OK for maybe another 20mins

Network too slow then. You might want to post your network specs and how many machines are sharing it.

Is Media Portal on the wired or wireless? Try turning the other computers of or just dont have them utilize the network wit the medial portal is trying to stream the HD content. You can test this by just putting one of the movies local to the MP computer's hard drive. If it works fine then its your network.

The MP and the server are both wired. I will try the HD film from the MP harddrive

I've had another thought, could it be the system specs of the computer that is serving the films as apossed to the computer playing them.

The MP PC is running 3000+ with 2gb RAM
The one that store's the films is only 800Mhz

I've also been seeing quite regular stuttering while playing back recordings over the network.

I'm only watching SD (no HD here). Files are recorded as .TS, and they play fine locally, so the actual files are OK.

Network between server and client is 100 megabit, nothing else running taking bandwidth when I'm streaming.

Server specs are in my system info. Client is an Athlon 64 3000+ - 2GB DDR - GeForce 6600 on an ASUS K8V-VM mobo.

Interestingly, if I plug my Netgear EVA700 in and stream the same shows over the exact same cable from the same location, there is zero stuttering at all.

I can only assume there's some network overhead going on in the way MP does it's streaming that's causing the stuttering.
