I Killed media center

Just make a key in the reg...

Start... regedit.......HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE......Software...P olicies....Windows.
Make a new KEY in Windows, called..."WndowsMediaCenter"
Make a new DWORD in that map called "MediaCenter"
Right clic on the DWORD and change 0 into 1

Good Luck!

Hi Have istalled tried both MPTRAY and MPTRAYMOD in the Team Media Portal directory but neither work for me. Running XPSP2 with MCE remote. Mptray service is running but the green button does not start MP.

Any ideas on what I might being doing wrong?

Cheers
Andy

Has to be in the mediaportal folder itself.

c:\Program Files\Team-Mediaportal\Mediaportal

The simplest way I've found to break Media Center's stranglehold on the custom buttons (including Guide etc.) is LM Remote Keymap:

LM Gestion : LM Remote KeyMap for Streamzap, Firefly, Firefly Mini, USB-UIRT, TechnoTrend or MCE PC Remote

The free version is fine for what you want. Just use the "Exclusive mode" for MCE remote and it will allow you to configure any of those Media Center specific buttons for...well, anything you like .

Just thought you guys may find this useful or interesting on this topic as it worked for me in Vista Ultimate....

Disable Windows Media Center using Group Policy (or Registry)

Run Group Policy Object Editor (GPEdit.msc), expand Computer Configuration (for per-machine settings if you want disable for all users on the computer) or User Configuration (for per-user settings if you want to disable for logged on user only), then expand Administrative Templates, and finally Windows Components, and select Windows Media Center. Change the setting for Do not allow Windows Media Center to run to Enabled. Once WMC disable policy is set, the following message will appear whenever users trying to run Windows Media Center.

Windows cannot open this program because it has been prevented by a software restriction policy. For more information contact your system administrator.

Windows Vista Home Premium edition does not come with GPEdit.msc (Group Policy Editor), however the policy that block MCE from running can still be set manually in registry, and will be honored by the operating system. To set the policy registry key, open Registry Editor, and navigate to the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft

Right click on Microsoft and create a New Key named WindowsMediaCenter (no space in between). Under “WindowsMediaCenter” registry branch, create a new DWORD (32-bit) Value named MediaCenter, and set its value data to 1.

Alternatively, simply run the following command in elevated privilege command prompt:

reg add HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsMediaCente r /v MediaCenter /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

To revert and re-enable MCE, simply delete the WindowsMediaCenter registry key created in Registry Editor, or run the following command in elevated privilege command prompt:

reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsMediaCente r /v MediaCenter /f

Cheers
