Country: | I suppose it is the dongle that registers itself and not the remote... Just to be on the safe side... Is the model name of your dongle: GYAR3202RF? I have three dongles, different computers and the same result... I also checked in Linux and I only get one kbd-device and one mouse-device when I connect the dongle. |

| MP Donator ![]() | Of course it is the dongle... I thought it wasn't worth mentioning because technical terms are not helping with your problem here... The sticker on my dongle says "GY1401-004". Have you installed any Gyration drivers ? I haven't. Maybe this is a lead. Other than that I don't know what else to check if the same behaviour occurs with three dongles on three computers. -level20peon

Country: | No, I haven't installed any drivers. My first guess was that I was missing one, but I couldn't find any when I searched their web site. Do you know if there are any, and in that case where to find them? So the model numbers differ, that must be the problem. Different software in them... I wonder if there might be a firmware upgrade software somewhere. I am quite certain that we have isolated the problem's source, no I just need to find out what to do about it. Thanks a lot! Could anyone else also please check their dongle model names? It would be nice to know if I am the only one with a different dongles. Last edited by posterberg; 2008-06-08 at 14:02. Country: | I just wanted to offer a couple of links that should help anyone who is using Vista. If you try using the gyration remote with Vista a few of the buttons will automatically open Vista MCE, and to stop that from happening you can disable the 4 windows media center services, this thread has more info on that. You also need to disable windows media center by following the directions in this thread. Now those 4 keys under the volume/channel keys won't open Vista MCE and you can use them in Media Portal (using eventghost). |

Country: | I'm new to MP because I used Vista Media Center for a year now. But I decided to use MP and now I'm trying to make my gyration remote (GYR3101) work in MP. So I found this thread, but in the message that explanes how to configure EventGost (from level20peon) the images are missing. I tried to get it work without the images but I don't understand the first part: Choose the first entry of "Gyration RF Technology Receiver", add it, add another HID Plugin and choose the last of these entries this time I can't find "Gyration RF Technology Receiver" anywhere. Can anybody tell me how I should configure my remote? for the trouble! |

| Hello everyone! A complete noob here. After struggling with upgrading my old computer for days, I finally got Media Portal installed this morning. I still have to configure all the settings, but of course the first thing I tried was whether the green button would start media portal. It didn't, as expected. So I tried installing the MPTray_mod plugin, following the directions in the .txt file. Does this not work on the Gyration remote? Or do I need to activate this plugin somehow? After reading all the posts in this thread, I'm still not sure if you guys were able to map the Green Button to open Media Portal. Perhaps I need to configure MP to use the general HID device as mentioned earlier rather than MCE remote first... Pardon me while I think aloud at work. I'm rather excited to get back home and continue setting up Media Portal. Bottom line is, can we get the green button to open MP? |

| MP Donator ![]() | Hello zoedragon, the MPTray plugin works ONLY with MCE-remotes so forget about using it with the Gyration remote. However you can tell EventGhost to start MediaPortal when you press the Green button. Bottomline anyway: There is no way to make the Gyration-remote work completely without and Input-mapper such as EventGhost at all. -level20peon
