How to improve browsing speed of big shares ?

When playing music, I select a MP3 share with about 1000 folders (with stuff inside)
There is a significant delay , until the list appears.. If I then enter a folder, (fast) , and return - then I need to wait again.
- same goes for videos.

Is there a way of caching these lists ? - or at lease make it go much faster ?
(browsing these network shares goes very fast)

Use the music Database.

The DB is indexed - however I select "music", then one of the shares.. is it so that I can browse the music using DB only ? - how ?

See attachments for screenshots.

First you have to add all MP3 into the database (picture 1). Make sure all ID3 tags are correct.
second (picture 2) you have to define which music view you prefer. If you make it like I did you get a nice result.
Third (picture 3) go to plugin section and select the highlighted plugins (music share watcher and music database reorganisation)

PS the database does not always update perfectly and you have to redo step 1

now I see.
the problem was that I did not select a view by "artist" "album" or such, just by "share".

When listed by share, "various artists" CD's are not listed together, but spread all over the list.
I am currently looking for a view that would sort/show the same as the folder structure does..

I'll see if I can define my own list-view.. that shows result similiar to folder view - thank you so far.
