mce remote controlling set top box

well have had media portal running a long time
any way though was time i upgraded to rc 1
so have uninstalled and done a fresh install and all ok apart from one bit which is driving me mad

the MCE blaster and remote for my set top box
under MY blaster for the old media portal set up and worked like a dream

but with the new one
have installed MCE replacement plugin
and when i ask to learn nothing happen the light on the mce receiver does not light up
as soon as it times out when i press the button on the remote the mce flashes to say i can see you but when i press learn again off it goes (also tried ir suite as well does exactly the same thing)

so basically MP is working fine but i cannot get it to change channels or even learn the codes for the remote

please some one help

Receiver has to be within 1cm to receive signal, just nicked that from noelix's thread about the same thing

the controller has to be within a couple of inches for it to work
