Media Portal Requirements

Hello.

I am making a Media center and I intend to use Media Portal, but the PC I have available to do it is only a AMD Athlon 1.05GHz with a 256Mb ATI 9550.

I only want the Media Portal to play videos (Not HD videos), not to se TV channels, so I ask someone who might know, will this system run media portal 1? I know that the system needs a 1.4GHz minimum in the system requirements but will my system work?

I'd appreciate an answer, thanks!

i have an AMD 1400 and it is in charge of :
-tv streaming
-tv recording
-home network file server
-mp client

obviously no HD but normal files can be played perfectly.

currently running xp2600 RUNNING AT 1000 mhz on 256mb Ram, 64mb gfx

all runs good! tv timeshifting too!

just bear in mind that for a low spec system, you will be best off selecting a simple skin. PureVision is one designed for low end systems.
There are a few others, but some are very resource intensive. Best to experiment for the best one for you.

absolutely true, although i find that the default skin works very good.

Hello,

I run a system with

- Sempron 2800+
- 512 MB Ram

If I run the Server and the client I can say that the System is very slow. If you click on TV in Mediaportal it will take 10 seconds before TV starts.

Half a year ago there was no TV-Server (I used the old TV-Engine) installed and the HTPC was running more smoothly.

So I think the minimum Requirements for a Server + Client Setup in the wiki should be increased, I think.
