| Hi, I use a central storage server for all music/video files and have the drives mapped to all PC's in the house. When XP boots it reconnects to the drives. I have mediaportal autostart but to access any movies I have to exit, open the drive in explorer then restart mediaportal. It there a way to force Mediaportal to open the drive on its own it is starting to get very annoying. Thanks |

I have all my databases in a central server location on the network as well and these can't be read the first time MP starts up and defaults to the local c drive. NOTE:- I don't have to access the drive before restarting MP though. Another thing I found was if I turned off auto start in MP and then added the icon to the startup folder within XP, if a rebooted the whole machine, it would see the drives no problems but when I turn the machine off overnight, in the morning, it will not see the drives again until I restart MP.. strange ![]()

| Portal Member | There's a handy little tool called NetworkDriveManager, which was still free a few years ago - now there's only a pay-version of this programm. It connects all network drives and also reestablishes the connection in case it gets lost! Link: Suncross greets, luksmann |

| That is now a pay for program, I dont want anymore TSR's especially just to make a network connection live. I was hoping the developers could make mediaportal establish the connection itself. I think windows automatically makes the drive unavailable till it is used and after a period of time of inactivity mark it as unavailable again. I did a google search for NetworkDriveManager104 which was the free version. Hope it does the trick for now. ![]() Last edited by the_mouse; 2008-09-05 at 22:53. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

| XP keep the drives mappings but doen't reconnect the network drives. You can see it by typing a net view command in a DOS Windows, you'll see that no letter drive is given for mappings. net view \\server For my use, I write a little batch command file (launched at XP restart) with commands like : net use W: /DELETE net use W: \\Sever\Movie It works for me. I can use the Drive W in MP after XP restart. |
