| Portal Member | Need the Vista MCE Remote Driver Hey, can anyone help me out with this? I just found out that apparently Vista Business doesn't include the drivers for the XP MCE Remote. Apparently they decided that I wouldn't NEED that driver given the OS. Can anyone with Vista Ultimate or Home with MCE in it figure out what the driver files for the remote are and send them my way? I'm growing tired of not having a remote for my MediaPortal. If anyone has any solutions, let me know if you can and I'll be eternally thankful. |

| Portal Member | Really? Le sigh, I wish I knew what was going on with it. First I think its the remote, except some buttons still work for me on it just not all. Then I'm told by people at Microsoft that Business doesn't include the drivers for the remote. Guess I'll play around with it for a while longer. Thanks for the heads up. |

Country: | If some buttons work then it must have some sort of driver support. I don't want to seem like I'm drumming up business for my plugin, but you could try the replacement driver and replacement plugin. But I encourage you to exhaust other possibilities first. For example, have you tried unplugging it and putting in a different USB port? Aside from that you might need to do a bit of googling to see if there's anyone out there in the wider community that has an answer. EDIT: I see where you've posted on another forum about it "Vista Business doesn't have the eHome bits which are required for MCE and apparently those bits include the complete control codes for the MCE remote." If that means what I think it means then maybe try the replacement driver ... Good luck, Make sure you let us know if you do find an answer, so if anyone in the future has the same problem they can overcome it. Cheers,

| Portal Member | I've tried using the replacement plugin, but that seems to remove ALL functionality from the remote. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to manually set everything or what, and if so what I do to do it, but the entire remote stops working. I've tried changing USB ports, every port on the system does the same thing and its remained the same even through Vista reinstalls. I'll try the replacement plugin again though. |

Country: | On Vista, if you want to use the MCE Replacement Plugin you'll need to install the Vista 32-bit MCE Replacement _Driver_ as well. The plugin won't work with the default driver in Vista, only XP, due to a change in the way Vista works with the device. If you have Vista x64 there is no solution yet. You can get the 32-bit Vista driver here: http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/wi...er-t20094.html Give that a try, good luck! Cheers,

Country: | Seeing as this thread has been somewhat resurrected, I thought I should add that my previous post (2007-04-18) is no longer valid. You can use the MCE Replacement plugin or IR Server Suite without installing the Vista Replacement Driver. And what's more you can make the default ehome driver act like the replacement driver if you wish, by modifying the registry as is described in the "You don't need the MCE Replacement Driver" thread linked in my signature.

Country: | 12three45: You'll need to find the driver somewhere or try the replacement driver.
