I downloaded all of those clips. My system plays the 18 and 20mbps ones good, but struggles (choppy) on the 25mbps and fails to play the 30mbps one...

how do these clips compare to HDTV? which one is equivalent to HDTV?

Those 4 are all HDTV clips. The ones which you said run OK, are both 1080i clips. The ones which dont are higher bitrate 1080i and a 720p clips.
