Question problem with playing movies and pdvd 8 ultra

i have a few problems wich i need help with.

1: when playing a movie in MP. everything goes well. but when i want to stop the movie or play another movie or music MP freezes and i have to restart MP everytime (via taskmanager). i have no idea what the cause is and how to fix it.
also subtitles are not coming up automatically.

2: color of video in MP very bad.
i have powerdvd 8 ultra on my brand new htpc and very obvious also MP.
when i play a movie (from dvd or hdd) in powerdvd the colors and quality of the movie are outstanding, marvellous...very very nice.
but when i play a movie (from dvd or hdd) in MP the colors and quality of the movie are really not that good.
the colors are really flat and not so bright as playing in powerdvd.
it reminds me of the old VHS tapes, it's not that bad but comparable. in the configuration settings i set the videocodecs to the ones from powerdvd but nothing changes when i play in MP. the image is still the same (not good). when i select external player and start a movie in MP powerdvd will pop up and start playing (with marvellous view). but i dont want to use that because powerdvd pops up over MP and makes it difficult to control. i just want only MP running.
anybody knows what the problem is?

i attached a log file. i hope this will help.
i already formatted my drive and reinstalled vista ultimate 3 times.

it's really annoying me and i'm about to give up on this and continue with a simple dvd player (altough i spend 1500 euro's for the htpc alone, all other extra's not included)

fore those interested.
i think i found the cause of the freezing problem.

when i set the audio settings in MP on SPDIF (optical) and my audio output settings in vista ultimate are also set at SPDIF MP freezes when i switch to something else.
now i set the audio output in vista at speakers instead of SPDIF.
however my htpc is still connected to the amp with optical connection.

when i play now in MP i have no problems anymore when i switch over to another movie or music.

however, there are some other (and a few still excisting) problems now

changing volume has no effect. it stays the same. but when i put the settings in mp to 5.1 instead of SPDIF i can change volume. but then the sound is not as good as the setting at SPDIF.

when i start MP and want to play some music the song doesn't start. it just stays there at 0 seconds.
when i then go to movies and start a movie i get sound.
then i go back to music and then i can play my music.
it's a very strange problem. i didn't had this problem before.

one problem i still have is that the video encoder settings in MP doesn't seem to work.
when i select the powerdvd8 codec the PQ doesn't change, the same for other codecs.
if somebody could help me out with i would get one hell of a step forward with this project.

as for powerdvd itself, ...its completely fucked up now.
i can't play from HDD anymore (it freezes the moment i start a movie)
i can't get any sound anymore. not on 2,4,6,8 channels or SPDIF.
blu ray i can still play but no sound anymore.
there goes my HD experience
and there is no other blu ray software available that i know of.
i'm pretty much assfucked with PDVD. i've been busy till 4 AM this morning. i can't get it back to work.
guess i will go have to complain at cyberlink. hope they have a solution.

but if somebody could help me out with the other problems i would be very gratefull.

Hi, if using a remote, just map the volume button to your receiver and that then controls the sound.

Uninstall it, run filmerit (link in signature) use padlock button to unlock for repair function, reinstall PowerDVD after a reboot, i really do have sound issues with PDVD audio, so i tend to use the ffdshow audio as my codec choice for everything in MP sound related.
