there is a built in part in the normal TV plugin but it only supports one perticular comercial encoder (and then probably doesn't work). ther is no other plugin as far as I know but it may be possable to use the my programs to send a file to an external encoder that takes a command line (if you can find such a program).

No it a freestanding service, you can set it to convert after x days and only between x hrs, So stuff you want to keep, just dont delete it until after the x days set (worth checking it has done it first and maybe have the convert too folder added to Movies or TVSeries plugin).
i've use the h.264 format with its built in comskip and seems to work well.

Once you convert them, they will be unavailable in TV (once you have deleted the original ts recording), You would need to add to movies if a film, or use the MyTVSeries plugin if its a TV episode.
I would not write back to where a original file is stored, just not good practice.

There's also this:
MP plugin for Video Transcoding It's a plugin for MediaPortal that will convert to pretty much any format you would need (h.264, xvid, divx, etc). Works well for me. |
