Country: | I use UltraVNC. Works fine for Admin. If I have it set to a really low connection speed (low # of colors) I can see a couple of frames per second, but it looks like crap. If I bump up the connection speed I can see a nice image, but it then only updates every couple of seconds.

Country: | Just to confirm, you're using these VNC variants to access your HTPC from outside of the network? (ie. stuck visiting relatives, and you want to set your box to record your favorite show from their internet connection)? Also curious how you get by with multiple logons on the HTPC. I can auto-login using TweakUI, but it doesn't work well when waking from hibernate/suspend. Very curious on some responses. |

Country: | I also use Sala's Terminal Server Patch (just stick that in google) to enable multiple terminal sessions. I have an account (MP1) which I use to autologon and run MP, when I want to admin I just logon over RDP with a different account (MP2) this avoids locking the console session running MP. This works over the net too, just setup a port forwarding rule for TCP 3389 on your router. Of course, if all you want to do this for is to check/set recordings, the TV server web front end will do that when it's re-introduced. |

Country: | What problem are you having when resuming using autologin? Is the screen locked? If so, you need visit the Control Panel's Display properties and turn off "Lock desktop when resuming" (or similar wording) under the Screen Saver options. I have autologin enabled (on many PCs) and have no issues on resume. Lucky me ;-)

However, I think it's locked as you say when waking up. Thanks for coming to the rescue, I was about to send you a PM to ask for your advice. If that's the case, I'll be looking forward to at least log on with another user whilst the htpc is in use. The next step is getting the remote access going.. Edit: Ok. So I found the setting: -right click on desktop -select properties -Select Screen Saver tab - Click 'Power' button in 'Monitor Power' section. - Select Advance tab - There'll be a checkbox there called 'Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby', which I unchecked. So I'm all cool now, except after creating a 2nd admin account, when trying to log in from 'Remote Desktop Connection', it forces me to log off the 1st account. Normally, I'd think this is right, but I got the impression that others were able to do this in this thread. Last edited by GadgetMan; 2007-07-09 at 16:02. | |

Country: | To those who are using VNC; if I log into my HTPC with UltraVNC I can't see the MediaPortal interface (the inside of the MP window is just black) but everything looks great on the TV. Everything else seems to work okay. What am I doing wrong? I remember it used to work in the past, but I've now started with a dedicated HTPC and I can't get it to work anymore! I am using MP 0.2.3 and UltraVNC 1.0.2. Does anybody have any idea what I am doing wrong? |

Country: | Thanks, with TightVNC it works! How weird, I thought all those VNC variants were mostly the same. Anyway, nice that I can remotely access my MP now... |
