Default Using SQL 2k8 Express for RC4 TV Server

I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of RC4, and getting my newly installed Vista SP1 system ready for it. Just wondering if SQL2K8 Express will work for the Database requirement of TV Server? 2K5 is mentioned in the requirements page elsewhere on the site, but not mention of SQL 2K8.

Anybody know if this will work?

Thanks in advance,

Joe

Do you know of any benefits for using 2k8? Any speed/memory improvements that may affect MP?

It will work. I can only assume its better and more efficient (bugs fixed, etc.), but I don't know anything for sure

I dont know of anything in particular, aside from the fact that 2k8 express is much better at resource management from what I have read.

In addition, since it has been out and about for a long time now, there should be a pretty good knowledge base for any issues encountered.

I normally like to wait until a SP1 for any software I run "in production", but Ill take a chance on this one.

BTW, a great big "atta boy" for the MP team on RC4!

You guys rock -

If 2k8 is installed, is the MP4 installer clever enough to know, and then use it?

Sorry, I dont know (yet). I installed using 2005 this time. I didnt want to be changing too much stuff all at once, makes diagnosing whats wrong much more difficult.

Once I am satisfied I understand everything is working well, I am going to rebuild using 2k8.

I will post my experiences once I do that.

I installed RC4 with SQL 2008 Express yesterday and it works fine as i can say. Didn't see any difference in performance to SQL 2005 for now
