I have MCE2005 and it is works perfectly. Without any touching in preferences or other things... It is simply works. but media portal... there is always problem with bugs... from disappearing text to block all function when I play radio. I have good configuration ( athlon643000+, 200gb HD, 1GB MEM.) and fresh installed operating system and that cannot be reason for problems with media portal. You can not release the software before testing on many more computers even if this takes a long time to finish.
I installed the media portal and I am really impressed. This software works already so good, although it's just in early development. Even a complete beginner can work with it easily. I have never seen something like this. There are some bugs now and then but that's completely normal for software that is still in his early stages of development. Please go on with releasing new builds so that everybody who is willing to assist in making the program even better and bettter can contribute on that.

you just have to love the people who download free software that is a long way off from being even version 1. They don't bother to post any details in the support forums so people can help them but then they actually take the time to register so they can post saying how much they hated the software.

Definately a TROLL in my books...

On a happier note, glad to see you around here again Smirnuff I go away for a couple of days and when I return things seem like the old times. Excellent.

I have to say, I've been installing different versions of Media Portal for a while now. Some have ben stable, some not as stable, but being BETA software, I kind of ecpect that! With 0.2 RC2 (or whatever it's called now) and a recent CVS build, I'm getting some pretty good results now.

Another impotant point to remember is that no-body is getting paid to write this software. Microsoft throw bucket loads of money into projects such as MCE as well as limiting the scope of features that they offer - of course they will have a stable (and limited and expensive) product.

Let me take this opportunity to thank the guys that put in lots of time both developing and testing this stuff. Hopefully I'll be in a position in a month or two to start getting a lot more involved in the testing so thtat I can be a little more useful in getting MP to it's first official release!

Cheers,
Downzy

I doubt it. Looks more like a computer user with so little understanding of how programs work that he genuinely doesn't comprehend the meaning of "beta" and "final release" and is genuinely offended by the idea that a program might need more tweaking that various "my lack of functions guarantees an easy setup" programs not to be mentioned, but prolly known by most here.

Well, I changed to DVBViewer because of the softcsa support, but always have an eye on MP. Such posts here are really stupid. I hope he gets what he earns. Maybe in 20 or 30 years, when he is old enough to earn his own money and has to work for it, he will begin to realize what it means to do so much work and get that feedback he gave.

(My god, I have to come back here, my english gets worser every day I doesn´t read or post here... )

Good to see you. Even if you aren't working on the code, just seeing you around makes things feel right.
