What happened to your bottle Smirnuff??
I lost my bottle in a tragic incident involving a tub of Nair hair removal cream. I'm okay about it and am pulling thru but still some way to go before I am fully recovered.

The avatar for those who are curious is my guy of the day, his name is Jim and he runs the vmwarez website. He got to be guy of the day as a result of providing an excellent site on another favorite technology/interest of mine, virtualization.

I am trying to find a suitable picture of a cool iSCSI advocate but as yet I have failed.

Nice reception guys, thanks.

I haven't knowingly had a photo taken for years except for a passport photo and believe me when I say that will never ever make it onto the web .

I do however know what Van Hilsen looks like and dman_LFC but shhht don't tell!

And I don't want Jim's bandwidth bill either.

I have MCE2005 and it is works perfectly. Without any touching in preferences or other things... It is simply works. but media portal... there is always problem with bugs... from disappearing text to block all function when I play radio. I have good configuration ( athlon643000+, 200gb HD, 1GB MEM.) and fresh installed operating system and that cannot be reason for problems with media portal. You can not release the software before testing on many more computers even if this takes a long time to finish.
Well I'm a new user to MP also. But I didn't find anything wrong with it nor any crashes at all. It think the RC2 is the best & stable release yet so far. And I have using it for at least a month a now.

For MCE 2005, there are a lots of functions & features not available while MP has it all. Bravo !!! Guys...

In considering of using MP versus MCE2005 is because MP is FREE for use while MCE is charging me and I like FREE stuffs.

MCE2005 definetly doesnt "just work":

1. If you have more than 2 tuners youll will have to manually edit the registry to get them working.
2. It cannot index Ogg Vorbis files
3. In Denmark the TV guide is really screwed up.
4. There is no seperate configuration program so if the wizards doesnt work for you, its into the registry!

But on the other hand, MCE is much better at handling task priorities thus avoiding skipping in video etc, and Media Portal just isnt a stable program (yet).

Default Shamefull

Good god have you heard yourselves one bad comment and your on him like a dog, so what if he has little knowledge and no understanding of beta concepts. i thought open source and associated forums were about helping people and providing cool and revolutionary software. not chanting school boy slurs. i myself have had multiple problems with MP some my system some bugs in mp. all of which get sorted as time goes on. but to purely attack an obviously younger and not as skilled Media portal user is pathetic. i suggest you look out of a window and remind yourselves there is still a big world out there which you Could take part in. the attitued displayed by some here is scary (shuold we not offer help as early posters in this topic) instead of attacking new users.
my two penneth.

Antony..

Edited felt it a little harsh after re read..
