VMR 9 works, but EVR gives black screen in vista

I have a working setup for mediaportal, but if I try to use EVR rather than vmr9, I get a flash of video, then a black screen whilst audio works ok.

I have an ATI 1650 gfx card and a clean vista and mp install using the latest svn.

Have I missed anything in the windows or MP setup, or is this one for the logs?

Sorry to nudge - but anyone able to advise on this? VMR 9 works perfectly, but EVR just flashes a still image, then goes to a blank screen - audio works though.

I am using Vista Premium.

Anything I might have missed in setup, or do i need to post logs to get an answer to this?

I had this problem with version 8.8 of the ATI drivers, I switched back to 8.7 and EVR started working again.

Edit: Make sure to uninstall the current ATI drivers and reboot before installing another ATI driver.

I have the very same behaviour too with RADEON 3200 onboard grafics (already mentioned in another thread). No success with everything I've tried so far

Is Aero working if using Vista, as this needs to be on for EVR to work correctly, can you run glass themes, if so aero's on.

What is the AERO actually? Is that the theme or is it some kind of effect?

I've solved the problem on my system by installed PowerDVD 8 Ultra (trial). I selected the Cyberlink decoders in MP and activated EVR and HW Accell in the expert mode config menu. But to get HW Accell really working one have to go to the settings of PowerDVD and activate HW Accell there too. With this settings it works fine so far.

I've the same problem with rc3,the only way, that i have found, is go back to catalyst 8.7
