Country: | Hi, Has anybody a working HTPC based running on XPe? I am specially interested in a diskless system based on XPe and PXE (boot via network). see: http://www.gctglobal.com/Contact/Rem...mote_boot.html The advantages of this setup can be: - No noise from the harddisk - Hibernate once, boot many - Cheaper setup if you have several clients (and one server) - All clients (can) work with the same image Disadvantage - Boots a bit slower - Server has to be powered on - Needs more memory Anybody any experience? Thanks, Ben |

| Portal Member | Have you tried geexbox? The main benefit of diskless HTPCs is to be run everywhere, out-of-the-box. Geexbox has solid foundations and experience in this area. MP requires to be set up and tweaked for each different system. A long and tedious process IMO. I'd be really interested in the outcome of your attempts regarding the integration of MediaPortal in a diskless setup. Keep us posted on your progress plz. |

And for as far i know XPe is not sold to consumers, but to OEM's and system builders so it could be difficult to get it licensed to the mainstream users.... Maybe this is something to take a look at... http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/ | |

| Retired Team Member | try Nlite, I stripped my Windows XP version to include only stuff I need. Which is about 300 MB, that includes Program Files and a memory footprint of 60 MB www.nliteos.com
