Default Wireless keyboard woes

So I just got this great wireless keyboard with integrated trackball, but it is causing some problems. I have my HTPC set up to allow wake from USB in order to wake it up using my MCE remote. The problem I am having is that when the keyboard receiver is plugged in the HTPC instantly wakes up as soon as it standbys. The keyboard receiver must be waking the computer up somehow.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Is there a way to only allow some USB ports to wake it up?

Hi hobbes487,

what keyboard do you have exactly?
I had different wireless keyboards connected and no one was waking up
my system istantly.
Always needed to press space bar for that.

Regards
Ralph

See "Power management" for both the keyoard and the mouse in "Device Manager", and uncheck "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby".

I found what i thought was my keyboard in the device manager. I unchecked the "allow device to wake up" box and now the computer wont wake up instantly, but now my MCE remote cant wake it up either. I only changed the power management settings for one device. It seems ike it is treating both the keyboard and the remote as one device.
