Default TV Server status icon plugin (now as a standalone app too)

Hey all,

I've made a TV Server plugin that adds an icon into your system tray (down the bottom right of the screen, you know the one) which shows the status of the TV Server.

It has four coloured dots that it can be:

Idle - Blue
Grabbing EPG - Yellow
Timeshifting - Green
Recording - Red

If you have multiple cards then the status will be the most significant of the cards. For example, if one card is timeshifting and one is recording then the plugin will have a red icon because the recording is considered the most significant of the cards.

And it will give you the status of each individual card in a tool tip when you hover the mouse over the icon.

However, to use this plugin you will need to modify the Service details of the TV Server...

Start Menu -> Run ... -> services.msc

Right-Click on the TV Server service and select Properties.

In the Log On tab put a check in the box for "Allow service to interact with desktop".

This gives the TV Server plugin permission to place the icon in the system tray.

I just quickly knocked this up a while ago and forgot to pass it on. Let me know if you find any bugs in it.

EDIT: I've added another attachment (TV Server Monitor) which is a stand-alone application that can monitor a TV Server over a network.

EDIT: I've removed the TVServerStatus Plugin because the standalone monitor does a better job and is easier to use.

EDIT: New version, attempts a bug fix.

It's not a standalone application, which you could run from another PC?
This would be a perfect solution.

Hey,

I've added the stand-alone application to monitor a TV Server.

Let me know if you have any troubles.

Cheers,

Something that I have been thinking to develop myself. Thanks. One small feature request, I think it could be nice if there would be a list up coming recordings.

Yes, it working fine (the app). Right now I use one server, is my assumption correct that it also works for slave servers?
(reads the status from the master?)

Hmm... It shows blue icon on my PC. And even though I have shutdown and deinstalled the TV server, it was still blue. Is that correct?

while we are at it, can you add an option to "filter out" disabled cards?

I have a hybrid card, but not using analog part. I don't need to see that card.

TVServerMonitor.exe
Installed on win xp pro sp2,, to monitor my vista tv server,,

Perfect,,, Just Perfect.. You have done a great job !!

Installed on the Vista tv Server,, seems to be working right now (I got so excited to try it out, I did not read the post saying "Woops!! Crash... "

It appears to be working on Vista Ultimate 32 bit

Have rebooted the Vista Tv Server,, worked fine again

Without thinking,, placed it in the startup folder.. errors out because the tv server had not started yet,, but can write a wait command for that,, No biggie.
(I wonder if I will use this after testing on the server)
Will definatly use it on my windows xp box,, just to keep an eye on the server.

This is just what I needed for my testing, and tweaking

Thanks again !!!! Good Job !!!
