Default Updated plugin: Rar Mount 2

What it can do
**************

- Mount uncompressed RAR archives!
- Seemless intergration with Media Portal

What it can't do
****************

- The mounted RAR archive(s) may only contain ONE file,
and that file must be smaller than 15 GB.
- The plugin can NOT mount compressed archives!

NEW IN THIS RELEASE: Subtitle support
*************************************

- First, download an install DirectVobSub.

- If RarMount2 finds a subtitle file ('.srt', '.ssa', '.sub', '.smi')
named as the RAR archive or as the stored file within the archive
it will be copied to 'c:\subtitles\UNPACKED.[ext]'
(where [ext] is the extension, i.e. .srt, .sub, etc).
Make sure the folder 'c:\subtitles' exists or change the path in
the config file ('rarmount_settings.xml').
RarMount2 will look for the subtitle file in same folder as the RAR archive,
and in the subfolders "Sub" and "subtitles".

Install for MP
**************

First of all, you need to download and install ImDisk:
Tools and utilities for Windows

- Copy "RarMount2.exe" and "ntfs.bin" to [..]\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\
- Copy "RarPlayer.dll" to [..]\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\plugins\ExternalPlayers\
- Add .rar to known extensions list in Media Portal config.

Please note that my RarPlayer.dll is based on, BUT differs from, and-81's version.
It also differs from the one included in my previous release.

Download
***********

The latest version will soon be available here:
MEDIAPORTAL - free MediaCenter HTPC Software - Rar Mount 2

Until that page is updated you can download the latest version here:

More information
***************

This plugin has earlier been discussed in the following thread:
Streaming RAR files

That's all for now.

This is so great! Thank you.

I have one miner issue. After watching a x264 with sub and then watching another one without sub it will show me the old subtitle from the first x264.

That might be a little harder to fix (since the file name is always E:\UNPACKED.[ext]).
Don't hold your breath ...

Doesnt the plugin know where the .rar is coming from? You could use that to create a faked folder structure.

e:\unpacked\_folder(s)\_packet_name_.ext , that way the position information could be saved to the MediaPortal's DB as the media files would be unique.

The currently used NTFS implementation is very limited and does not support changing the path or filename of the unpacked file. The only solution I can think of is letting the plugin create it's own database of resume positions. That, however, is a feature I leave for someone else to implement. Sorry.

Hi,

Firstly great idea & plugin, I hate having to unrar files just to watch them.

However I have a few issues since installing this plugin regardless of if the files are rar'd or not.

Does anyone else have these playback issues after installing this plugin that:-

1. Can't pause avi or Rar'd files - not sure why this plugin is affecting nonrar'd avi's as well as rar'd ones
1a. skip & ffwd work but not pause, just flashes briefly.

2. At the end of the avi or rar'd avi the screen just goes blank and doesn't seem to finish. Stop doesn't do anything. I have to hit the home button on the remote to take me out of the video.

It could be a focus issue as I've also noticed the mouse is now showing on the screen after a rar'd file goes and mounts it's self. I'm running the autofocus

Thanks
