Warning to Windows 7 Testers

This warning won't apply to many people but if you are planning on trying out the Windows 7 Beta with Mediaportal, Moving Pictures won't work correctly. This is due to way the plugin handles the coverart, to add any movies into the database all coverart providers must be disabled (so your newly added movies wont have covers)

Just a headsup for any other testers.

EDIT: To anyone new to this thread, this is no longer an issue, plug-in works fine with Windows 7 now. --fforde

In fact, i would go even further than you, and state do not run MP on it at all, not if you want reliability, but then your not going to listen anyway, cause you just love beta's

I wouldn't go that far, the Windows 7 Beta is very good, at least as stable as Vista if not more so. I havent had Mediaportal crashing anymore than it did on Vista.

Anyone who expects to run anything smoothly shouldn't run a beta OS, anyway.

I only run XP on my HTPC because of MediaPortal. Port it to Linux and I will switch OS.

This has been discussed already many times, in short porting won't happen

Have you tried running Windows 7 at all? It works perfectly on my laptop, almost zero problems at all. Installation is just faster then XP of Vista, it will detect almost all your drivers automatically and download and install them. I allready prefer it to my XP install on my laptop.
You can bitch about Microsoft all you want, but the Windows 7 beta is just great, works perfectly and many people prefere it to vista.

Just wondering, the Covers, is it only when you download them from internet or also when you have them in your movie folders?

I'm not suggesting you do, I'm just saying that MediaPortal is a very strong reason for me to use a Microsoft OS, that's all. I'm aware of XBMC on Linux, but it does not have as great movie/TV-series handling as far as I'm concerned.

Back on topic: 6.5 is very stable for me. Thanks guys!

Hi guys,

yeah, I love Windows 7 already. Have been using it for a few days now and believe it or not, it is extremely stable for a beta and much much better than vista. MP also works fine on it, at least for the few things I use it for (except MovingPictures unfortunately)

Will you update Moving Pictures soon to run properly on W7 ? Would love it ...
Thanks,
Alex
