Hi P4G0 - great tutorial - isn't Google translation cool!

I'm right on the limit of my technical ability and I need some help. I'm running MP 1.02 (MS SQL) on a media PC on my home network and I want to install MPTVClient - so far so good!

Questions-
1. What and where do I edit in the gentle.config file.
2. I don't know the first thing about MS SQL - when it comes to configuring the database settings what do I put in the 'host' box - I assume it is some kind of path to the db on my media machine and what do I put in 'schema' box?

I know they are basic questions but I am totally stuck.

Thanks

I'm not working with MSSQL but as host you have to type the IP-Address or Hostname of the Machine on which the MPTV-Server is running. The schema is the name of the Database of the MPTV-Server, normally called "mptvdb"... Did you watch the video? There you can see how to configure the database settings. There's normally no need for editing the gentle.config-File

Thanks for the quick reply - so to confirm -

1. I just need the host IP (or name) nor specific path to the actual db?
2. I did watch the video but didn't pick up on the schema name chage to "mptvdb" - got it.
3. I assume that the logon name and password are those on host db.
4. What about security between the two (Win XP) machines - they both have the windows firewall and Norton installed - will I have to configure these?

1) I looked at the configuration once again and you are right: when setting up the host there's "IP-Adress\SQLEXPRESS" in the textfield... don't know what to type in there... I have never worked with MSSQL...

2) yeah, try "mptvdb"

3) yes

4) maybe you have to configure Norton... but I suggest you to use another antivir + firewall than norton If you cannot connect to the db-server you could have to configure the Windows Firewall.

OK things are moving a bit
1. The 'host' is just IP Address not "IP-Adress\SQLEXPRESS"
2. "mptvdb" is correct.
3. I added and exception in windows firewall and norton.
The test works fine!
However, the aplication doesn't. This is what I get..

Any ideas or do I need an SQL expert?

Sorry I don't know how your firewall settings (Norton & Windows) look like. I prefer to disable the Windows Firewall...
In addition I really dislike Norton products
