Default binding alt-f4 to mce remote

hey guys,

great plugin, bin using it since it as released, but i have one last issue to resolve and have been tearing my hair out trying to get it done. I am using an mce remote that came with the haupauge pvr150 mce tuner card. now, in mediportal it functions as an mce remote, not a haupauge remote. In the mapping section for the mce remote, i can't figure out how to map a particular button to alt-f4 so i can quit whatever emulator i am running without having to use a mouse or keyboard. the emulators i use are project 64 and no$gba. If anyone could give me a dummy proof lesson on how to do this I would be greatly appreciative.

YAY, it's time to start hooking me up some emulation on my new HTPC!!!!!

1. Right click your "Media Portal Configuration" shortcut on your desktop.
2. Replace the path that is currently in the "Start In:" dialog with your path to your MediaPortal install, typically "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\"
3. Enjoy your configuration!

Edit:
Also the one in Programs > MediaPortal also has the incorrect path. Seems to be choosing the local folder that the shortcut is created in. Actually, it looks like all the MediaPortal shortcuts have the "Start In:" path as the location of the shortcut.
At last! GREAT work!

This is really something the MP team should change before releasing the final 0.2.3.0.

EDIT: Okay, it might have felt joy too early. I finally managed to get the error myself, and it only occured when no DB file existed and it needed to be created. It didn't matter which directory the shortcut was set to start in, but then again I haven't been able to download 0.2.3.0 so it may only occur there. Anyway, the code producing my error is fixed and I don't get the error anymore. Furthermore, the DB file is referenced through the absolute path and not the working folder, so that shouldn't be a problem anymore.

The wrong paths of the shortcut are stupid, but not the source of the error.

Are your changes in the SVN already? I'm interested in your fix as I've done the database thing in a similar way like you did.

The Start In: path fixed it on two of my machines that were running on version 2.3.0 RC3 with and without the latest SVN. I figured it out when I ran the configuration.exe directly (version 2.3.0 RC3) without using the shortcut and it worked.

Also, if you configure the database in version 2.2.0 and copy that database to another machine with 2.3.0 (the paths to the emulator and roms have to be the same on both machines), then MediaPortal itself would work just fine. Only the configuration was causing this error on my machines. I don't recommend that, it was just troubleshooting step I took.

I haven't tried, but configuring it with version 2.2.0 and them upgrading to 2.3.0 RC3 might work as well.

Once the file is created there shouldn't be any problem. It should also work if you just start MP twice.

Yes that is correct, it is getting created and works if you start MP twice, but you can't configure it via the MediaPortal Configuration shortcuts for 2.3.0 RC3. It claims that it cannot open database\myEmulators.db3 as soon as you Right Click and click on Configure in the plugins section of the MediaPortal Configuration when the "Start In" path is incorrect. Since Cheekar is putting the absolute path into his code that should take care of this as well, since it will no longer rely on the "Start In" path.

I would say that we're both right and it was some weird behaviour of MP (at least I don't know any current software relying on that value ^^) since my code is not the same as Chreekars and I even don't have a configuation yet.

Hello. I have problems with N64 emulators, I think it is 1964 I use (am not at home right now...) and when I run a game from MP My emulators there is an error message and then I come to the games list. Then I try to load a game from there but it still don't start.
If I run 1964 directly without MP, it works fine.

Sorry for the not so orginized question, but someone might have an instant solution?
I will return with log files and exact error messages later.

My 5yrs son loves this plugin, especially SNES. It is so good with the thumbs screen shots!

http://www.emulator-zone.com/

Use the highest rank emulators there.

===========================

By the way, i got two problems:

1) When opening a game in the emulator "Kega (Fusion)" it opens perfrectly, but when i close it, MP also closes. (and yes, the close MP in the config is unchecked).

2) I cannot open games in Project 64 in "My Emulators", but outside of MP i can (it says "Failed to open rom").
.
Thanks! great plugin
