About: My Lyrics Plugin

My Lyrics is a windows plugin for displaying the lyric of the current played music file in MediaPortal. All versions up to 0.2 is to be consider betas and will accordingly not be flawless or complete, but yet stable.

My Lyrics - version 0.15

Basic features:
- Dynamic search for lyric matching currently playing music file
- Batch search for lyrics matching songs in music database
- Add/delete/edit lyrics to database
- Reading of lyrics in music tags
- Support for lrc-files.
- No longer Google ws dependencies; heavily improved performance and no Google license key required to gain full support!

Changes from version 0.14 to 0.15:
- Fix: A LOT of performance improvemence issues and code-clean up
- Fix: One lyric site added (HotLyrics), and one removed (SeekLyrics) due to instable server
- Add: Timer on batch search in configuration mode.
- Fix: A special formatting on SeekLyrics sites wasn't handled causing fetched of an incomplete lyrics
- Fix: For some users the tag reader added an additional space causing the search to fail.
- Fix: Various minor fixes on all the formatting on lyrics fetched from SeekLyrics
- Fix: Handling of special German and Danish letters

This version holds dll's for both a clean MP 0.2.2.0 install (default) and the latest SVN build. See the readme.txt for install.

Hi maysider.

Evillabs sure has many features! But actually I'm not that keen on the program because I think it is a bit messy and all the features sorts of distracts me. For many it will be the ultimate software for fetching, altering, tagging mp3s, but to be honest I prefer a software that hides all the fetching info away and just show the lyric/lrc on the screen without any disturbing bonus info. But natural, Evillabs has some great features like lrc tagging, saving to music tags, and searching lrc-sites, that I would like to built into MyLyrics.

I'm not the one to decide if/when MyLyrics will be integrated into My Music. It is the hardworking members of the MP core team that will make the decision.

And finally, you are more than welcome to make a new thread or post in one of the existing, but don't post in this "About"-thread. It is purely intended for introducing the plugin and announce updates. Thanks.

OK - First I thank you for the fix to make My Lyrics work with 0.2.3.0 - But I need to ask a general question because this is the first time I have tried out your plugin. Is the proper methodology is to setup a playlist first and then go into your plugin to display the lyrics?

Also will there be any chance in the future to have lyrics work with Last.FM?

Yes, the plugin shows the lyrics for the currently played song, so it is recommended to bring along a playlist. There is currently no way to e.g. start a song and automatically switch to the MyLyrics page. In time the plugin will be integrated into MP, and it will be possible automatically to switch to a lyrics page when pushing a button. But not before after the release of 0.2.3.0 final. It is the call of the busy MP core group to decide when the lyrics feature will be built into MP.

I have a problem too regarding getting it to work.

Untill a few weeks ago, I was running MP 0.2.2 but now I'm a VERY happy 0.2.3 believer! A LOT to the MP team!

It's just that I have a few minor problems for which I'm trying to find a solution/answer and I have already mentioned it in this thread.
I thought that maybe I'm not getting a response because I'm not the ts of that one but since I saw this one, I wanted to add something:

I'm a little puzzled what to do now: I have copied the lyrics database from my 2.2 setup and I installed MyLyrics2.2 since I thought it had to be compatible with the database.
Apparantly the plugin doesn't work on MP 2.3 since I get an error message.

If I go through the Main Repository Page -> Plugins -> Audio/Radio documentation/plugin pages, I find MyLyrics 0.13
Then, through some other way I 'stumble' on the Extensions-Plugins which gives me the list of plugins and in that table the it says "0.2.2.0 and above" whereas in the documentation behind that link, it seems to be up to 0.2 -> documentation outdated?

So by this I wanted to point out that it's not obvious to get it to work and this is not criticism.

during batch searching of my large network mp3 archive, mp configuration chrash. test several times but same result ;-(

what shall i do?

I tried to uninstall lyrics..but not possible "this package contains plugins, use MPI installer ti unistall it" ???
