Country: | Hi mackey, Thanks for all you work on this plugin - it is wonderful ... Quote:
I realise that there are workarounds for both of these minor issues - allowing thumbnails to be created fixes the missing coverart, and the name of the plugin can be changed to just "Lyrics" in the configuration. Also, are there plans to fully integrate this plugin with My Music - I notice that there is a greyed out option in Music -> Now Playing that points to Lyrics ... this would really enhance the usability of this excellent plugin.

You are right that the problem with the thumbnails haven't been sorted out. It is on purpose because this is exactly one of these things that made me almost quite my work on the plugin. To fix the problem I cannot rely on a method or call of MP to perform the task; no, I have to steal three lines of code there, one line there, four lines there and in some way bring it all together and hope it in some miracle way just works. And when it is MP gui related there is no obivious way to debug the end result, and also all the mylyrics.xml files will likely have to be changed as well. So it is a quite nasty task that I don't want to perform any longer. The new architecture of MP-II sounds so promising that I'm sure it will be quite easier in the future to live as an plugin developer. Hopefully, the cool features wont be hidden deep inside the stomach of MP and hopefully there will be a clear-cut between the buisness logic and the GUI with interfaces. The plugin architecture that the MP-II core team works on should do exactly that. It is again the decision of the MP music core group when MyLyrics will be incorporated into MP. One of them wrote in a previous post that the integration would start just after the release of 0.2.3.0 final, but things may have changed once again. As you - and most others - I think that the lyrics features should be built in MyMusic but it is not my call. We have to wait until the hardworking group believes it is the right time. Their main focus is stability and with the current intern architecture of MP in mind, who can blame them! best regards Last edited by mackey; 2007-11-20 at 07:00.

| I'm confused (-not that I'm complaining!!). I'm getting the Cover Art in My Lyrics using Xface. Please excuse my ignorance but this new version of MyLyrics is saving the lyrics to the music tags - what does this mean? Where are the lyrics being saved? In the MP3 files? Or somewhere else? Thanks again Mackey for this great plugin - I can karaoke with my remote again! |

Exact before it was just a database in MP with the lyrics, now lyrics are saved in the database (faster) and in the tag of the MP3 file. See MP configuration -> plugin "My lyrics", to see all the options you have. To see if it's works, you can use windows explorer, right click on the MP3 file, propriety, up there is General and one other, maybe "Abstract" (my windows XP is french, I don't know the englisch name), and there araa all the tag in the file (Artist, genre,..., and Lyrics) Cédric

| Thanks Cedric, I checked it out using MediaPlayer and could see the lyrics saved in the mp3 file. This is much better. Also Mylyrics seems to find so many more lyrics now and quicker! Still can't find Gorky's Zygotic Mynci though, lol Thanks again Mackey! |

| Portal Member | Hi mackey, I tried to import my music directory and when it got to AC/DC the browser shows AC with a list of songs and DC with the same list and then import fails. As AC/DC is near the top of my collection 99% are not added. I thought I could just remove that folder and try the config again but those two are still listed in the browser and can not be removed. I am stuck. Regards |

This issue is related to the ID3 V2.3 definition which uses "/" as separators. The consequence is that "AC/DC" is treated as a collabration between the two artists "AC" and "DC". It can natural be considered as an error which also was corrected for V2.4. Accordingly, the best solution would be to retag your AC/DC files to V2.4 using e.g. ID3-Tagit. See this post for the full story: http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/mu...hlight=AC%2FDC I presume that your AC/DC tag are ID3 V2.3. If not, please let me know. best regards. Soren

| Sorry I'm sure I've seen this written about before but I'd thought I'd ask...for some reason many of my songs download the lyrics with multiple apostrophes ''''. Is this to do with the website they are downloaded from? Is there anything that can be done for this? By the way I'm more chuffed than ever now as I have a discrete MyLyrics button on my remote control now thanks to the Generic Keyboard/Remote Input Plugin! Now I can go direct to mylyrics, so much easier and quicker! |
