Default Feature request - automatic import and rename from specific folder

Hey,

I would like to know if it is possible to specify an incoming directory as source for importing series into MyTV-Series. The plugin should copy or move all files matching the already built in regex filters into the specific folders of the Series. An option to automatically rename the files during this process via regex parser would also be highly appreciated so that the filenames are more "human compatible" and everything would be sorted nicely the way one would specify it.

What do you think ?

The only issues i can see with this are:

1. You might have multiple folders for a tv series (IE: I have my 720p eps in one folder, and my normal 16:9 in another)
2. The machine you are running my tvseries on more than likely is accessing a share... and doesnt have full write rights to all the locations

I love the idea, takes me forever to move and rename all the episodes once they are downloaded... just not sure how do-able it is. This would only really work for me as a seperate little app ON my server that has all the episodes and has the correct rights to the locations to write the data.

Hey Bobb25,

to 1. This won't be a problem if you are able to specify the destination folder via regex filter (I am able to write working regex code but there is no way on earth to do this job automatically)

to 2. Sure but if you are running such a setup right now and do the renaming and moving manually you also have to access the folders (so there has to be any access at all) and an option to either copy OR move the files would be no problem in my opinion.

I'm glad that you like this idea at all .

Yeah. Its a good idea. Like the TV Series Renamer by ccmatrix taken one setp further When i update my series (move them over to the correct folders etc) i generally RDP into my server and do it all on there. Hence the reason why i say a seperate tool would work wonders for me! I have My TV series set to not check for new files... simply becuase i have about 8000+ tv eps in there and it takes a looooong time to check every time i start the plugin

Do we really want all this stuff in there? IMO there is already lots of things included in the dll that should have never been part of it.... I think this plugin should do one thing, and that very well: Find new files and receive

I like the idea of an external solution, heck it could even be a MP plugin too. I also hear many download clients provide a feature to rename/move finished files based on certain rules. Or one could extend the mediarenamer to work automatically in the background, maybe as a server (on the mediaserver or something).

You are right, it would "pump up" your plugin which maybe unnecessary but it would also add a nice feature in my opinion.

...external solution / MP plugin ? Would also be nice but I cannot program for .net and since you already managed the interaction between MediaPortal, online database and regex I posted into this forum because it seems obvious to do so

A plugin would be a great idea.

I think its a great idea, would probably save me at least 15 mins a day spent moving files. Ive tried recently to edit the path when I dl too my HTPC over the network. It actually is faster to edit the path to download too for each download, rather then moving them to the correct folders afterwards. But I have to give the server full access to shares on my HTPC, and thats not ideal.

Best thing would be to have a app/plugin/scrip running on the htpc to automatically copy files from a certain folder, to a certain folder based on rules - Just like you described in the first post =)
