you could look at the 780 chip set with Gigabyte or even the latest 790. HDMI & esata onboard - GA-MA78GM-S2H with AMD 5000+ 4 GB Ram. I have this and works brilliant .Cost was $110 Australian for MoBo. Again no bluray though in my setup so can't comment on performance there. here is the link to Gigagbyte GIGABYTE - Product - Motherboard - Overview - GA-MA78GM-S2H (rev.1.0)

Bagal: yeah, i have the same card in my machine that I am replacing - so i just ordered the cable.

All i need to do is get the drives and a motherboard and processor for the NAS and im set.

Thanks to all for the input.

Oh yeah, remotes. MCD or is there a better one, remembering that i will use my harmony and not the actual remote that comes with it.

Thanks!

Default What I did for NAS

For your storage (NAS) solution, I thought I'd point you to the server rig I built. It's got room for 20 drivers, so it just depends on how big of drives you've got in it. At the moment, I've got 2x160GB (system + timeshift/record), 8x500GB in RAID5 (ISOs), and 5x640GB in RAID5 (ISOs). I've got about 700 DVDs on there right now and am using just a bit over 3TB. Just shy of 3TB free. (I strip menus and features, leaving only the main movie.) And still 5 bays free.

Load it with 20x1.5TB and you currently max out at about 30TB in one box.

Milhouse Media Server Lots of configuration details in the thread - I still think software RAID is a better value than hardware RAID. Remember, you won't have a huge amount of writes - it's mainly write once, read many times, so write speed shouldn't be your major focus.

In my case, it's storage + TV Server.
