Default Encrypted channels

I am new to all this.

Am I correct in assuming that while this software can pull in unencrypted channels, I still will not be able to record movies from the encrypted channels, even if I am subscribe to them?

I have Comcast (USA-East) as a service. They provide a DVR box that performs the decryption. They do not provide cards from tuner boards. Removing the box from the equation, removes the decryption.

Or does this software control the DVR box as well?

This depends on your goals for your htpc........if you are wanting to archive movies/tv shows on the htpc then you could get the tv tuner card of your choice and capture the output of your cable box....keep in mind this will only work for sd programming not hd.......hd programming would have to be handled another way.
