| Hi all, I am a newbie to the MediaPortal community and I would like to ask some help. I have built my own HTPC and decided on MediaPortal as the front end. The specs are as follows: Case: Antec Fusion v2 Mainboard: Intel Tower Lake DG33TL CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 2.4GHz Memory: 2GB RAM Graphics Card: Asus EN8500GT SILENT/HTD/256M GeForce 8500GT 16xPCIE 128-bit 256MB DDR2 w/HDTV + DVI HDD: Seagate 400GB DVD-ROM: LG 20X TV-Card: Twinhan DVB-S CI PCI Card AD-SP300 (1034) CAM: Irdeto Access SmartCard: DSTV Series 4 OS: Windows XP SP2 MediaPortal: MediaPortal TV-Server 1.0 RC2 I stay here in South Africa and we receive a Satellite signal from IntelSat 7/10 (DSTV). I have a valid subscription with our provider and the SmartCard works fine in their decoder. I have read that newer versions of these SmartCards are married to the decoder, but the one I tested (version 4) should still work. I have successfully configured the satellites.xml file to point to a new ini file I created with the satellite frequencies (Thanks to LyngSat: MultiChoice South Africa on Intelsat 7 at 68.5°E - LyngSat). I can successfully detect all the TV and Radio channels, but some of them are obviously encrypted. When I run the channel scan, these channels are marked with a red (T), instead of a green (T) for the free channels. I receive an error when trying to preview: "Preview failed: ChannelIsScrambled". I can access the menu of the SmartCard using the software provided with my DVB-S card, which tells me that it is not inserted the wrong way. I am also unable to view any of the encrypted channels using the TwinhanDTV software. I saw on one of the MediaPortal User Manual pages (TV-Server/listofcams - MediaPortal Wiki Documentation) that the Irdeto Access CAM is not supported or tested. Not sure if this is where the problem lies. Also not sure whether this CAM is compatible with the DVB-S card ?? Are there any South African MediaPortal gurus out there ??? Any help willl be appreciated. Thanks |

| Super Moderator | Hi there, and welcome here. My setup runs analog from the decoder to my TV card. Then MP can change the decoder channel with IR blasting (IR Server Suite). It seems that you want to stay digital, and obviously that would be the preferred way looking at HD TV and HD-Decoders that should be in SA soon. I wish I had the experience to assist, but since I am viewing (via decoder) on analog, I will just monitor your progress. Good luck
