Country: | Wanted to say HELLO. I have been a MCE 05 user since it came out. I was a MS Partner and they sent me an early release. I was like what is this? Any way I been hooked since then I have it in my GTO 2 notebooks and on all my TVs with one dedicated server. Any way I’m a car mechanic and former Body Man since 70s and got into puters with 95 and some DOS built puters for yrs until they got so cheap. Tried to get my 2K MCSE but fell short with MCP and then economy ruined those plans to get into IT/Network. So I have some background but this Media Portal has me baffled. Seriously I’m just starting and if I can get it all working I will switch over to this for sure. MCE should be half of what this program is. I can see this as front end on my carputer also! I have a Moded Xbox XBMC on it can that be used as an extender? When you install MP and select yes to HD does that automatically mean you’re using TV-Server? I’m currently trying to set it up on a notebook with an ATI TV USB Wonder under XB prow. I don’t see my tuner? I have a Dell Avermedia Nano Express card but apparently it only has Vista drivers. ![]() OK I can see my TV tuner in server setup now I’m trying to figure out how to setup EPG service. I signed up for Schedules Direct. I don’t see where you map to it. DOH I also found no extenders supported in FAX to bad looks like the 2 would be compatible I hate to see the old Xbox sit around. Country: | Greetings I never wanted to go into IT, been using computers since the late 70's.. never considered myself an expert. First designed output for practical scientific use on a Modcomp mainframe (graphs, charts, banners, etc, for creating presentation materials) then 2D CAD, then desktop DOS computers (before windows) for 35mm slide production and other graphic arts applications in the early 80's, moved into Amiga based graphics production, did some game art, animations for commercials, magazine layout and moved into full PC graphics aplications, desktop video applications, 3D modeling and animation... then in around 1998 I put that all away and picked up a clump of clay... now I'm sculpting toy prototypes and masters for resin model kits for the garage-kit collector hobby.... Don't know how to answer your questions, except to suggest searching the forum for specific topics, and read through the Media Portal Wiki. I'm sure many of your questions will be answered. I know many MP users have come out of the MS Media Center environment, and there has been discussion about the XBox extender. Beyond that... MP is the best solution for HTPC I have found for my needs. But I don't require much. Good luck. Chuck there is a plug-in for Schedules Direct you have to download and apply (I'm using it too)... search for Schedules Direct in the forum Search function. There is one for standalone MP as well as Server. You only need one. Last edited by 2BitSculptor; 2008-06-04 at 14:19. |
