Default How to download episode titles

Hi,

I recently started setting up media portal and it looks like it's exactly what I want. Slowly I'm getting things configured but running into standard starting problems. One thing that I've been unable to solve for a couple of days now is that I am trying to get the tvseries plugin to grab episode names from thetvdb.com instead of using the parsed filenames. The reason I want to do this is that many of the tv episodes I have don't have the title of the episode in the filename. This information should be redundant since the Series name, season and episode number should uniquely define the title.

Anyways, I was hoping that somebody could point the way for me.

thanks

I' not certain whether TVSeries plugin can do that, it probably can - i'm no expert.
However, i know at least one solution would be to use Natbur's TVRenamer, it scans and renames files with the episode title, using thetvdb.

MyTvSeries definately can do this, just set it up and it will display the right names inside.

Your files must be named something that mytvseries understands though - it has to be able to parse the filenames. You can use the parsing test inside mytvseries to see if it is parsing names correctly.

And if you need to rename files (and to also automatically include episode names in the file) there are some cool renamer tools:

Thanks guys.

It turned out that there is some sort of bug related to downloading data on too many series. It just manifested itself as not downloading the episode names. I just wrote a couple of custom regular expressions and downloaded data for a smaller number of series at once and everything worked.
