Ah' the mouse, now that operates in a world of its own and its a scary place to be, just takes lots of practice to make it usuable.

Try changing batteries. If that doesn't make it smoother: try placing the keyboard a feet from the receiver - pointing at it!

The keyboard is a real PITA IMO: Doesn't even work in BIOS and needs special "you need WGA" drivers. Come on MS - it's just a keyboard with a mouse attached! How hard can it be! (Btw: Logitech - where are you?).

*Taking a chill-pill*

I sadly didnt have any luck with installing that danish kb888795 update. Strange enough it installed all the drivers, ehome infrared device, keyboard keys, hid mouse device, and some more. But still only shortcuts work. I'm running xp home edition, and it might look like the drivers were made fore xp pro. Could that have any effekt?

Please answer, or Ill make slamdunk on the MCE keyboard... Have tried fore weeks to get this keyboard working

It's not the "best" solution, but you could try installing the mce replacement driver, which by itself does not support the keyboard, but when used with IR Server Suite you can use the keyboard with the replacement driver... IR Server Suite actually decodes the keyboard ir signals from scratch (when used with the replacement driver and the option turned on). As a side effect you can also fine tune the mouse sensitivity of the keyboard's mouse.

It's not the best solution, but if it's the only one you can get to work then I guess it's the best for you ...

Best of luck.

Could anyone give me a detailed instruction to install the IR Server Suite and how to get it working. Theres a lot of pausebilities like blaster, translator and so on. Me -> Total Noob!!!
I need to install the microsoft MCE keyboard on xp home from scrath. I've tried installing the IR server suite, with no luck. The IR Server (which I surpose is a program) gives me a starterror when I try to open the exe file. How do I figure this out?

You can also try Human Interface Project or Girder. Sorry, I can't find links to HIP anymore for some reason. Of course, if the PC isn't reading keyboard input at all then this won't help either.

This isn't necessarily going to help anyone, but I'm posting anyway because it will make me feel better.

When I had my MCE remote/lapboard installed on Windows XP MCE it worked perfectly, including Mediaportal functions.

I've since ditched MCE and installed XP Pro again, and the remote works perfectly. The keyboard technically works, except that it doesn't recognize keys held down, it only applies that input repeatedly. This makes it difficult to use key combinations (hit them at the same time otherwise you get nothing), or you will successfully Alt-Tab to another window (only one since you can't HOLD the Alt key down) but it will activate the file/edit/etc menu's. It also makes typing a very deliberate affair since it will inject five of whatever character you just typed at the slightest provocation. Big fun.

Installed it on my Vista machine last night since I'm making that beast my main media rig now, and it works perfectly.

The lesson I'm choosing to take from this is that I need to give up computers altogether and become a rock farmer.

HIP is fantastic, you can find it here:

ByRemote - What is HIP?

But IR Server Suite is the only one that will work with the keyboard when using the replacement driver, that's why I mentioned it as a possible option. I do try to limit my self-promotion to a minimum

I really can't say enough about HIP, I prefer it to Girder any day.

Cheers,
