you refer to srt/utf-8
srt is a subtitle file
utf-8 is a font type
my guess is that you have an error with subtitles that is pegging cpu (or similar) and stalling your playback of 1080p

if you want more help, please share with us:
- what your system is
- what you have installed
- what precisely the error is
- whether the files play OK in any different application
- what taskmanager reports for your CPU level when attempting to play the file (print screen grab would help)
- any error messages (print screen grab would help)

e.g., i used to have core duo t2300 with on-board graphics, it played 720p with coreavc, but not 1080p

I had the same problem. Install DirectVobSub and set the option automatically load vsfilter in Haali. You'll be fine then!

I had some problems with playback of 720p mkv file in MP (while it played with no problem in VLC)

hello again I couldn't get 1080p working so I just do 720p which works good except when I try playing 720p.BluRay.DTS.x264-HDV- CtrlHD and ESiR- I cant get these 3 to play can some one tell me why. thanks for those of you who thied to help with the other problem. I am using windows xp home sp2 pentium 4 3.4ghz.2 gig ram

Hey Ray I did wht you said about loading vsfilter automatically. it did help play I guess they are called torrents. like HDV ESIR's those work now but when I play 1080P I still am having problems. with voice being way out of sync. is there something I am missing.

It's possible the sync problem is in the mkv itself, but it could also be your machine which isn't powerful enough. What are your system specs?
