Country: | I would like to replace Vista MC with MediaPortal but I have a few questions first. 1) The current MC records and TV to the local disk but picks up photos and music from another PC on the lan. I assume MediaPortal can do that? 2) I currently have two DVB-T cards but would like to soon add or swap in a DVB-S2 card for freesat. 2a) How many tuners does MediaPortal support? 2b) I am a bit confused between MediaPortal and TV-Server. The blurb says only TV-Server supports DVB-S2, so what do I need to install on my media PC (ie the one that will do the recording and is connected to the TV)? 3) Does MediaPortal support Blu-Ray should I decide to upgrade the DVD in my pc to Blu-Ray? 4) Does MedaiPortal output 1080P (for my 1080P Panasonic)? 5) Vista MC tends to lose frames whenever the PC is a bit busy recording another channel. Is MediaPortal better at handling this? I would really appreciate any advice you can give me on this. |

Country: | 1) Yup ![]() 2a) Nobody has ever reached a "limit" I believe, other than those given by no. of PCI etc. See: TV-Server (maximum number of tv tuners allowed) 2b) Blurb? Anyway: TVServer gets installed if you choose to when installing MP (just say "yes" when asked about HDTV). 3) There is a patch/workaround for this. Try searching the forum (I'm to lazy to dig it up )4) A bit strange question. MP can play all files and resolutions as long as codecs and proper HW is in place. The screen resolution is set via the control panel of your gfx card. Does this answer the Q? 5) Sorry. Donęt know (never experienced this). Hope that helps ![]() OH, and welcome to the forum, Thornsdale! ![]()

Country: | Thanks, Time to give it a go, then. Thanks. The signal and cabling are OK. The problem gets worse the more Vista is having to do. If it records two channels at once or I am recording one and watching another it is much more likely to happen. But enough of VMC, I shall install MP and see how that goes. Can MP pick up and replay TV already recorded from VMC? Last edited by Thornsdale; 2008-07-18 at 09:15. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |
