Default Schedule, Suspend, Resume, Record...

I'm usin RC1, TVServer RC1 latest SVN & PowerScheduler Client plugin & server plugin.

I can add a scheduling thru EPG, and everything seems to be ok. The scheduled event shows in MP and in TVServer.
But if the PC is suspended, TVServer does not wake the pc up. And does not record the scheduled event.

What is the basic usage for the scheduling, suspending and resuming?

I would like to use MP as follows:

1. Watch TV, schedule a show to be recorded.
2. Suspend the PC from remote. (At the moment I'm using Windows suspend command thru iMon.)
3. Automaticly wake up PC and record the scheduled show.

How should the Windows XP, MP, TVServer & plugins be configured for this to function?

All xp\vista power settings disable.

Not sure about the imon remote, but might be worthwhile seeing if the TVServer powerscheduler does its job, by letting it shut things down for a scheduled recording without MP even running.

You can easily check this out in about 15 minutes.

Ok, I'll try that.

And I'll disable all power savings from Windows. But how will I set MP to suspend? Is there a key shortcut?
The iMon is really flexible for all configurations.

I would not like to leave my PC to wait for suspending. And solution for this is that I suspend it from the remote everytime I need/want to. One problem that has occured for suspending thru Windows is that MP does not let Windows to suspend if TV is on.

By design, you really do not want standby\hibernate during your favourite show

I know what you are saying about the remote putting pc to sleep, just make sure your pc\TVServer\MP is correctly working on its own with standby, before introducing the remote, as any problem needs to be pinpointed to what is stopping your recordings from happening.

Just tested it and everything works fine with the recordings.
So scheduled from MP and recorded by TVServer. Idling for 5min, suspend, resume for recording, record, idling for 5min, suspend.

Perfect!

And now I'm using the suspend option from Power Scheduler plugin.
Is there a suspend command for MP? Or does it always have be idling first?

By not suspending when TV is on. I meant that even if I use the suspend command for windows xp from my remote, MP prevents suspending.

Still some problems:
- How to resume with remote from MP suspend? Does not work at the moment. I'll try to adjust the buttons in my Harmony 785 & iMon Pad.
- PC is not suspending when I want it to. Is there suspend command in MP?
- Some probs with the order that Windows XP starts programs on startup. I'll try a batch file for that.

If and when I'll get these sorted, I'll try the same on Vista.

Thanks for all the help!

So the deal with the suspending from remote is as follows.

I had already enabled the MP general media buttons option from remotes.
So al I had to do is select one media key to act as suspend. And configure my Harmony 785/iMon as needed for that.

And everything works!

And I can resume the PC thru iMon with the same button that suspends it.
Only tiny problem is that when I select to suspend from TV, MP just shuts the TV feed. I have to select suspend again for suspending straight from live TV.

Maybe this could be worked around with the MP general media key configuration. As for the "Playing TV" state I should build another way to suspend.

Even more good news!

I already got around it by assign to Harmony 785 that to close the HTPC you need press three buttons.
So, 1. Home Screen 2. Stop Media 3. Suspend.

So everything is ok now and I can finally start to enjoy my HTPC!

btw. I installed the latest SVN and it showed to be RC2.
I suppose that this is because the roadmap for RC2 is complete and RC2 release is just around the corner?

Again, many thanks!
