Country: | Infos: These Subversion-snaps are compiled at about 01.00h (CET). You can also visit the official irc-channel (#mediaportal) to get a notice when its ready for download. The trigger !svn gives you the latest update too. They are not pre-tested, so please use the backup option from time to time. If you'd like the bleeding edge code and don't mind the inherent risks, upgrade to the snapshot releases as they become available. If stability is important to you, you might want to stay with the fully-tested releases. How to install MediaPortal SVN-Snapshots in short: 1) Install MediaPortal 0.2.3.0, not necessary if already done 2) install .NET Framework Version 2.0 3) Run the Snapshot-Installer. You should create a backup. 4) Run Configure. Sometimes the settings and database versions change from build to build, so you have to reconfigure your TV for example 5) Hopefully enjoy the new version 6) If not, restore your old files and you will have the former version back. Important notice: The backup function wont work for Vista atm, here you need to save your configuration manually. A rewrite is planned but will take some more time for testing. |

Country: | Hi Team In this version i can now scan channels but i do miss a couple on the sat but not sure why yet. Thankyou for getting the scanning back. I have also found in this version that the TV server does tend to fall over . If i get a channel that lost signal the TV server screen tells you but i cannot get out of it to go to another it just seams MP locks up. Also tv server doesnt last long the longest stable viewing is about 3 hours fo me and then it hangs or says signal lost. I think its comming allong really well Excellent work TEAM.. |

| Portal Member | Snoopy, The scanning I got back when I installed a C++ patch (was announced somewhere here on the forum) Since I had similar problems as you (lost signals, unable to find all channels), I must advise you to check the signal strength of your satelite. When scanning channels in TV-Server what do the indicaters show for signal strength and signal quality? When I had the problems like you, I had signals about 25% mostly, sometimes a little higher upto 80%(containing the channels that I still could watch properly) and also sometimes lower then 20%.. Then I tried normal analogue TV and discovered that the signal is very disturbed, very snowy picture and lots of interference... This triggered me that the coax cable must be bad.. I rigorously replaced everything between the utilities cupboard where the cable comes in (I have cable TV) and the coax that goes into the TV and HTPC...So 15 meters of coax cable replaced by a better quality and plugs replaced that are properly shielded (core antenna cable completely encapsulated by metal shielding from begin to end) and on top of that I installed a TV antenna signal amplifier (cheap one, just to boost it up to 100%. A bonus is that I get a second outlet so I can watch analogue TV as well.. Nice to record digitally and watch analogue to another channel).. And this has helped to get rid of my problems COMPLETELY! Mediaportal works great now, TV server works very well. Signal strength during scanning shows 100% as well as the quality. All channels found, TV plays smoothly now, Brilliant colors, no stutters, no pauses audio is excellent. If you suffer bad signal quality (let say lower the 60%), you should have a look at the cable between your sat-dish and the HTPC, it is really worth the money to replace with something of better quality and take care the plugs are made from metal on the outside, so they completely shield the antenna core where the signals run through. I hope this helps. Lots |
