Advice on streaming software please

Hi,

A few months ago I flew with going places in their premium class and had video on demand.
Every seat could select between films, comedy programs, etc. We had a lot of choice and could start, pause fast forward rewind at any time.
Now this was from any seat and their were about 100 seats.
We could also play games and play against other flyers.

Is there some software available where I could have something similar at home.
I have a SBS2003 network setup at present with 3 children each having their own PC, another in the lounge, kitchen and 2 in the study.
I would like them to be able to choose from a library of films,programs etc and play them whenever they wanted from my server.

It needs to have a nice front end for ease of use, the planes system was running on Linux, is there something for the PC.
Or will MediaPortal do this for me?

you could install mp on every pc and then just link the music/video/picture directories to a shared server.

Would it stream to 5 + PC's ok?

That depends on your server. TB network should be a good pick.
