Default Convert DivX to something Editable

I'm trying to cut down a DivX clip to just keep the part of the video I want, but even after trying several products that say they'll convert to an uncompressed AVI (which I can then edit) nothing seems to work. Does anyone here know of a program that can help me?

The file was downloaded some time ago from tvtorrents, if that helps with figuring out the codec.

Hi,

can you play the movie in WMP?
Do you use ffdshow for codecs?

Did you try VirtualDub?
With VirtualDub you can cut scenes without the need of reencoding...

Hmm, how can you edit and resave from VirtualDub without the need to re-encode?

I use it to cut out the commercials, but I never knew it can be saved without re-encoding ...

Hi,

in the video menu you can select "direct stream copy". In this mode VD just copies the new file to HD without the cut scenes. Takes only minutes.

Not all codecs do allow this or you might get synch problems. But in most cases it just works fine.

You only need to reencode, if you use filters (e.g. for cropping) or if you want to get another format (XviD, DivX, etc.).

HTH, Flip.

Hi,

VD is really a nice program. I love it, too.

Just an additional hint. With VirtualDubMod (which is based on VD 1.5.10) you can also load MPEG 1/2 and edit / recode them to XviD and others.

Flip.

Hi,

the only thing you need to do is, keep an eye on audio encoding. AFAIK VirtualDubMod makes uncompressed PCM out of MP2. You need to install Lame ACM to encode to MP3.

Have fun.
