Country: | How to run to Dual MediaMVP Servers running on the same subnet mask Network Idea Test this out how to use a Wireless Laptop on the same subnet mask to run two Hauppauge MediaMVP Servers where your primary is on HTPC and the secondary would be the Laptop. Reason Okay tested this out and it works! MY WDS wireless ethernet converter that makes any wired device had stop working with MVP. It works on other wired but not on MVP. I did try another one same deal, boots then reboots in loop, reset doesn't help either. Project Equipment: Wired Media MVP Cat 5e 350MHz Ethernet Cable DELL D600 850MHz Latitude with 512MB of RAM with Hitachi 40GB 7,200RPM HDD, 10/100 Intel PRO Mini PCI NIC + Wireless 54G NIC How too The area where I had the MVP doesn't have any wired Ethernet connection, I would have to drill into the side wall of the house then drill again into a basement window to pass-thru Ethernet cable to the switch. I already go to many wires adding more just doesn't look right so here goes nothings: Second MVP Server on the same Subnet Mask 1. crossover cable 2. media mvp player 3. laptop with wired 10/100 and wireless 802.11 g/n (either one) 4. media mvp server software If you have wireless already running on the laptop leave it alone. On the 10/100 set it to 100 full Example: IP address: 192.169.11.12 Subnet mask: 255.255.255.255 Default Gateway: 192.168.11.12 DNS Server: router IP goes here 5. Install/run/configure the mediamvp software 5a bind the IP address to MVP when you see OK 3secs .. 6. Change the theme 7. Click on start then run type: services.msc 7a. Right click on each MVP Server change log as to your admin user name 7b. Add the pass word and restart both services. 8. Connect it to your Laptop 10/100 9. Unplug the MVP 0. Replug the MVP First these you might not be able to open video files, but just reboot the laptop and it should be okay now. You can pull in from the other MediaMVP Server well where every you have Pictures, Videos, Radio, Music, Internet and Weather these are in my themes, but if you use the default works also. Any question just post them here. The same laptop can be taken on the road for travel then connect to the hotel room SDTV or whatever set they have that has s-video and stereo audio. The you can relax and watch the movies you brought with you instead. Note: This is not the same laptop I use for traveling, as 850MHz can't work with Divx (AVI) but it can work with MPEG2 without jitter/shutter/hicups audio/video sync problems are not present. Working Idea! See the red crossover cable cat 5e 350MHz ![]() See where the red crossover cable connects to: ![]() See the wireless high power turbo 802.11g pcmcia card ![]() See the results ![]()
